When the game was new, I often got them from compleating maps.
But nowadays they seem to be available via gem shop only.
Ist there a patch note about this anywhere?

Used to be a reward for other things but haven’t been seen in a while. So…yeah, your best bet is the kitten gem mine

AFAIK they are still available from rewards, just very rarely.

Got 10 or so out of black lion chests. That was ages ago though. Might have been removed from the loottable.

People keep telling me they’re still available in game, but I haven’t seen one in months. I’m pretty sure they made them Gem Store only and just didn’t say anything about it.

I got some last week from a chest. The key I got from a low level map completion. You can still in theory get them in game.

I got some last week from a zone complete. I was pretty surprised. Usually I only get the regular ones.

Edit: Thinking back, I only got 1.

yep they def lowered the drop rate.
Before i used to get loads on my main,now i only got 1 from the rest of my lvl 80’s.
on my first char,by the time i got to 80 i had 25+.
on my last 7 lvl 80’s i got 1.

I guess anet needs to make money somewhere,but these secret nerfs do get annoying tbh.

I got 5 fine stones (not the regular ones of which I have hundreds in my bank) on a new character yesterday. cant remember exactly how it was either personal story reward or in a dropped chest opened with a dropped key.

In 3 characters to level 80 these are however the only free ones I’ve seen so dont think this is a common drop.
