In these hourly Invasion Events, with all the nice drops I am getting, I am constantly hitting (f) for AoE Looting. So as I do so, if I run over some dead thing and hit (f) my character has to stop what she is doing and jump up in the air, to drive a wooden pole spike into the dead carcass.

Um…WHY?

For the RPGer in me
All my characters are members of the Pious Knights(Knights dedicated to the common folk). This type of vulgar desecration of the dead just makes me scratch my head and does not make me look good in front of my fellow Knights.

I guess this is simular to the “Finish Him” gesture from PvP but I am just missing the reason to brag my superiority to a computer AI.

Besides my RNG seed has already shown that the game hates me…why would I want to taunt it to anger it even more?

simple solution that everyone has adopted, keybind AoE loot to Y (or any other convinient key), no need to finish up PvE mobs if you dont want to.

No more random ressing, no more random talks, no more random finishing, no more random actions, no more random quest stuff, after a day you will get used to the new key

Well, as for the why: It’s a game mechanic where the mobs can go around and resurrect or assemble the fallen allies they have. By finishing them, you prevent that from happening. You’re not just finishing them for fun, it does have a purpose.

Because they added finishers to the store. They were trying to sell them. That is the exact reason why.

Simple fix that I did, re-bind aoe loot to F bind the interact to Shift F, no more problems EVER

Because they added finishers to the store. They were trying to sell them. That is the exact reason why.

Except that finishers don’t show on anything other than PvP; and finishers were originally designed to display PvP rank.

THere was a time when you couldn’t see the rank of a player unless they used their finisher in PvP, before they did the updates to add spectator and ranks displaying on scoreboard.

Stop making ArenaNet seem like a greedy company, this is just ridiculous… especially when stomping clockwork doesn’t even show the finishers EVEN if bought from the store.

Wrong!

They also work in WvW which means they can and will work in PvE if they enable it. It’s fairly obvious the direction they were going with that design.

No one is implying Anet is greedy about anything. Other than maybe RNG boxes. They can make a dollar however they want. I myself spent 80 dollars in support of them since champ loot went live.

They are still two different things. WvW is actually considered PvE.

I’m glad you support the game. People should if they like it. I have no idea what that forced part is about.

So killing other players is considered PvE? Who came up with this madness?

I don’t consider WvWvW serious PvP, but to consider it completely as PvE is non sense.

I consider it more like open world PvP myself. It’s balanced and set up with everything from PvE though.

Basically all I was saying is if the finishers work there, they can work in regular PvE and I wouldn’t be surprised to see them in an event in the future to get PvE sales on the finishers. Especially since this was the only thread I seen someone complaining about it.

Anet at least considers WvW PvP….when they promoted the game, they said there were two types of PvP, structured and WvW.

That said, you can PvE in WvW too. There’s events, gathering, crafting.

WvW is a hybrid of PvE and PvP…but it’s definitely made for PvP.

It’s certainly technically possible for them to enable finishers in PvE, but they haven’t enabled them for PvE, making the argument that they added stomps to the new Living Story content to sell more finishers nonsense.

Yeah, complete nonsense. Add finishers to the store then add mobs to PvE that can be finished. Wonder what the next step is. Should see it in an event form sooner than later.

Guess we’ll have to wait and see.

Yeah, complete nonsense. Add finishers to the store then add mobs to PvE that can be finished.

Mobs that can be stomped, but CANNOT make use of the new finishers. If you stomp one of the Twisted mechs, you use the standard, generic pole, not one of your fancy expensive finishers. Go ahead and try it out if you don’t believe me.

I’m not saying ANet won’t enable finishers for future PvE stomps. I’m saying they DIDN’T enable them for THESE stomps, which makes it absurd to claim that they added THESE stomps to sell finishers. It’s like you’re saying a cracker company made new extra-salty crackers so people would buy their new juice boxes while casually skipping over that they sell their juice boxes and new crackers on completely different continents. It’s crazy tinfoil hat logic and nothing more.

If anything, we should be annoyed that ANet DIDN’T enable the finishers for PvE stomps. They just released this shiny new finisher system, so why not let us use it everywhere it’s relevant?

The only monster I’ve seen this on so far is the steambot things and personally I like it. Not only does it them more dangerous if you don’ finish em off, it gives people what aren’t so combat oriented, and who usually stick to the edges to res, something to do and feel useful in the mean time.

I know we only use regular finishers on the invasion mobs. I never said we used the new ones. I said they can be finished.

I didn’t say they are trying to sell them for this event. I said they were trying to sell them. I don’t think they sold as well as they thought to just PvP and WvW players. If they want them to sell then they would have to make a purpose for PvE players to use them. They should sell a lot of them if they do it right. Players like eye candy.

The OP asked why we had to finish them. I implied it had to do with the new finishers. I clarified it later that I thought they were going in the direction of using finishers in some PvE. Someone had already posted about the use of finisher mechanics in PvE ahead of me and I didn’t think I needed to.

I’m not annoyed by it. I just think they are testing it out.

My original post was horribly vague so I see why people thought I was saying something else.
