All that’s good in this patch:
- variety in daily achievements leading to laurels to be gained casually
- new ways to get ascended without grinding 1 dungeon
- new PVE infusions for the folk who don’t care about grinding 1 dungeon
- easier access to fractals for folk who don’t care about grinding 1 dungeon

Furthermore.
- items that increase the supply for important crafting materials
- quaggan backpack!!!
- several boss health pools lowered, several dungeon bugs fixed
- several important events fixed, UI improved
- added more karma sinks and karma-to-gold system
- brand new storyline kicking in

Not to mention:
- profession balancing and bug fixing
- culling is being adressed
- several WvW problems being addressed

As a whole, the game has been improved and polished across the board. I can’t find any bad lines in the patch notes, and that’s unique among MMO patches. Sure … it’s only a start. But I don’t think we can complain this update.

So I check the boards, and all threads are about what’s wrong with this almost flawless patch. Am I overly optimistic or is the forum community just the worst of the crowd?

I think it is a question of what is missing in the patch (i.e ranger / engineer tweeks) than having ‘bad patch notes’

For me I’ve decided to shelve the game for a while after this patch. Battlefield awareness is basically non-existant. Yesterday was a prime example of how a large chunk of players don’t even know how to use a combo field and still run around with the shiniest / most expensive weapons in game.

I will probably poke my head back in if they ever introduce 8v8 / GvG or something like that.

Sorry for the tangent, I just feel although it helps casual players achieve ascended gear it still doesn’t fix a lot of things that I am personally frustrated with in game.

I like it. I had all this Karma, and I’ve got four alts to level before I even think about what to trick them all out in when they’re 80. I’ve played 200+ hours and have barely touched sPvP, spent a BIT of time in WvW, for the players like me who aren’t in it to grind, (which, tbh, the grinding is there if you’re looking for it,) it gives me a way to lower myself into the ascended gear and keeps the dailies interesting. I don’t have to run fractals 100 times, I can run it here and there….get some armor from crafting, some from playing the tp., some from laurels, it’s nice to be able to just do whatever I feel like and get rewarded for it.

I support this patch.

My main is an engineer. I’ve got better things to do in game than whine over minor bugs that don’t bother me.

To each his own. Just check out the patch notes … it has a table of contents. In Word it’s almost 5 pages long. There’s a ton of good stuff in there and almost no bad stuff. Except for GW1 I’ve never played a game with such exhaustive patches.

Sure I have my fair share of gripes with GW2. But I shelved those gripes since they don’t matter nearly as much compared to everything that’s good in this game.

I also really like this patch.

The new dailies are fun and the laurel rewards are exiting and easy to get.

I have the achievement “team work gets it done” maxed out- so I had quite a giggle when I saw people who didn’t know how to make a combo QQ here- usually the same types who say the combat is shallow, go figure.
Same goes for dodge.

The karma boxes are a nice addition.
I like the changes to Orr

I am taking my alts around now to see the new lvl scaling but I’m sure it will be better than before when I face-rolled everything.
Shadow Behemoth is fixed, so I’ll pay him a visit.

The flame and frost bit is only live for me late tonight- and I can’t wait to check it out.

oh yes and more Brooms! yay!

having ascended items available for players like me who can’t be bothered to do dungeons is a really nice addition.

Great patch, good job!
