So, I know in another thread I read, an ANet dev mentioned the reason First Person camera options aren’t in game is something to do with how they’d have to compensate for race height, skill animations, etc.
I can understand why that would make a first person camera a potentially very time consuming feature, and possibly not really feasible. Really, I get it.
But I still want one. You’ve designed this wonderful beautiful world, and the skybox is one of the best parts, but we so rarely can have our camera tilted to see it. And even without the skybox there are plenty of other places where there’s almost nothing I’d like more then to just take screenshots that don’t have my character in the shot.
So I got to thinking, First Person camera isn’t really viable for general gameplay… but could ANet make a ‘Photographer’ mode? Essentially, all it would really have to do is turn your camera to First Person, and make your character more or less non-existent.
Picture this, a large scale guild doing, say, Tequatl. Awesome. Let’s say they want to designate one person to act as a ‘Photographer’ to get screenshots of the action. So this person finds a good vantage point where they’d be able to take Screenshots of the entire battle, and then they activate Photographer mode.
In photographer mode, their camera is swapped to First Person, their character is made invisible/invincible, and receives no reward for any event taking place around him/her. This means that they can take pictures, their character is ‘safe’ from harm, and they can’t just turn the mode on to survive an attack, turn it off, and still get loot from the event.
Basically, they get nice First Person screenshots… but they knowingly CHOOSE to sacrifice any chance at loot or credit for that event.
Naturally you probably wouldn’t want to allow it in WvW/PvP, but still, I think this idea could probably be managed somehow or other to allow us to take screenshots in PvE.
