I have used the feature in a grand total of 0 MMORPG’s out of every one that I’ve played.
I have a feeling that the majority of the player base is the same.
Good for screenshots, but otherwise, not too useful. It would be a nifty little feature, but I doubt it’s even on Anet’s radar. :/

If i wanted a cookie-cutter MMO, i’d play one…there’s plenty out there to choose from.
It’s a suggestion that comes up practically every day, it’s not selfish of you to ask.
Just to catch you up, we’ve already determined that:
1. The feature has already been developed as a dev tool, but there’s been no word that it would ever make it into the game.
2. As far as usability: Character fade on zoom already exists in the form of standing too close to a wall and zoom control while in combat (to prevent people from fighting in first person) already exists in the form of large-boss far zoom.

I wanted that in beta to. The photos would be so badas. I am a photographer at least hobby one. And i loved making 1st person shots in gw1. That would be so bad-as.
There’s simply zero reason not to have it. Even if only 5% of the player base would regularly use it to make screenshots, why not add it?
Same thing about a better FoV …
