Fix Lions Arch & Cosmetic System
Yea… I think LA will be moved to somewhere else though, just my feeling. And this game is going to be nothing but gem store purchases and living story, nothing else.
Your LA point is totally subjective, many people love it and it makes the world feel more living. Old cities get burned and others get built. That’s how a living world should be, this is what the MMO player-base have been asking for all the time [ for reference the MMO community is never happy whatever the devs do in any game as the player-base is huge and the opinions are different ].
Regarding your other points about skins, I agree. As a game heavily focused on skin collections, it would be great ot have some kind of a wardrobe where you can.
Not sure about the account-bound things on the other hand, it is a gaming company afterall they want their game alive and players to have something to do. Like WoW is focused on gear, it is focus on skins and looks here, at least you aren’t forced to do it here like you were in WoW as you won’t be able to play content without gear. Now, implementing account-bound skins etc. will lead to less activity from players to build different characters, something that the majority are doing as people fancy trying new profession/race combinations, building their stats and skins to look fancy.

How does a now totally empty city which at one time was packed with many people make the game feel more alive?

1.) So GW2 Finally got account bound pick-axes okay good, but what about Account bound cosmetics I find it really annoying that I spend Real Life money on cosmetic items which I like, but they are bound to a single character once used I have no way to freely transfer it to another character.
2.) Lions Arch, I would seriously like it rebuilt already, I don’t want to throw insults directly at the devs, but I think the actual destruction of Lions Arch was a stupid move, for Story Wise I feel it should have been made instanced.
3.) The third thing that would be nice is allowing players to repeat/replay past events in an instanced mode similar to (Defiance) for obtaining weapon skins, and armor cosmetic items I find it really annoying that I can’t obtain old event weapons and cosmetics for my characters.
4.) Another option to all of this would be to get rid of transmute stones, and allow players to take a piece of armor and covert that armor into account-bound Cosmetic Armors that can be freely switched on all characters on an account similar to a game called (Runes OF Magic) and similar to the way PVP armor cosmetics work I believe in GW2.
5.) Limited Mining Picks/ Cosmetics is the other thing, please remove limited time sells like mining picks and such, allow players to buy whenever they want to for gems, perhaps I like my Molten Pick which is account bound but perhaps as a player im willing to spend $10 to buy a second one but can’t because its no longer for sale.
6.) Forgot one add player housing/allow players to construct their own housing in their instance which all characters on the same account can go into, along with crafting stations and such which can be purchased in cash shop including merchant npcs to be placed inside the instanced area.
Please get rid of the old put in some new, and fix Lions Arch, Thanks.
As it says here in the game update notes; https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/info/updates/Game-Update-Notes-March-18-2014/first#post3781078, “At this time, the prospects of the city recovering from this devastating attack are uncertain at best.”. <——LA may be a desolation for some time to come.
Mud Bone – Sylvari Ranger
LA should be rebuilt, but it should not happen overnight like some magic. Sorry OP. I’d like to see it take quite some time, less that realistic, but still much more than ‘fix it now’.
Has anyone noticed there are Workers in LA already?

Critical judement was never meant to be going around spreading a negative-attitude about every aspect of the game. If you are critical about every aspect of the game disliking it, there is no point of playing it in the first place.

It’s “judgement” btw.
Also, You assume far to much about my likes or dislikes and quite frankly I can be as critical or non critical as I desire about a product I purchased as a consumer.
The mistake you make is your biased defense about a companies direction which if you use these forums as a sample size – is flawed.

People are now packed at vigil keep. I think the destruction of LA is a succeed and should carry on for more living story, at different race capital so once in a while people are gathering at different region of Tyria.

Is it supposed to be like that?
Yes.
Your point is moot. If it was supposed to be empty, desolate and unpleasant to be in, then it shouldn’t be any surprise if it is precisely like that.

Moving one dead area to another makes it more alive for you?
If so – then I apologize as my version of alive and yours are obviously very different.
In the end all they did was swap one area for another.

I took the destruction of LA very differently it appears. Looking past the “story”, when I went into the ruins, I went around here and there talking to NPCs, watching them root through rubble and wreckage. That hour or so gave me enough to justify the entire LS. Im not from New Orleans, but I can say it gave me that same exact feeling when i saw the aftermath of Katrina (my regards to anyone who were effected by it). Its the little things like this that keeps me keeping on, and why I hope it takes us a year to rebuild LA. So even if all it did superficially was move us from one zone to another, its yet again the little things that made it awesome, and yet another person who ccan’t quite grasp this it seems.
Kudos to the devs for the experience.
Onto your wardrobe, they have data mined the existence of a soon to be system. It looks like it will be based around t stones/crystals. I’m totally fine with that.

When I played World of Warcraft, one of the most common complaints was that for a game with ‘warcraft’ in the title, there sure wasn’t a lot of ‘war’ involved.
Nothing ever changed. You’d hear about these huge conflicts, where the Horde and the Alliance were pushing their fragile truce to its raggedy edge, but you never saw or particpated in any of it.
It took Blizzard ten years to do anything drastic — ie, the Cataclysm — and then, after that huge step forward, the world was frozen in time again.
That’s what I like about the Living Story, and especially the razing of Lion’s Arch: I was there. Instead of being locked away and unable to interact, I’m an active participant in the events that shape the world.
I personally thought that the razing of Lion’s Arch was a very good way to help the world of Tyria evolve. LA was the central hub where players congregated and went about their daily lives. When Scarlet destroyed the city, a whole lot of people were affected, both in the mechanics (lack of convenient, central location for banking, crafting, etc.) as well as in story-wise and emotionally.
While I realise the destruction of LA means I now have to run to Divinity’s Reach to do all of my crafting (so annoying), I realise if ANet had decided to destroy some random map, Ebonhawke or even one of the racial cities, it’d probably not have as much impact and would be a very ‘meh’ event for me.
I also think this is a great opportunity for players (especially RP players) to be more dynamic and resilient. No more will the grand promenades of the Black Citadel be filled only with NPCs walking pre-programmed routes! No more will the Sylvari bar within the Grove be devoid of player customers!
Arise, people of Lion’s Arch! Arise, people of Tyria and celebrate, for today the chains of Scarlet Briar have been broken!
“2.) Lions Arch, I would seriously like it rebuilt already, I don’t want to throw insults directly at the devs, but I think the actual destruction of Lions Arch was a stupid move, for Story Wise I feel it should have been made instanced.”
—
It’s your opinion that it was stupid…
Actually it was a good move by Anet IMHO, would you have been happier if it was another city? say Divinity’s Reach? destroying LA had a devastating effect not only on the city itself but a portion of the playerbase that liked to congregate there (of course those folks just stand around at Vigils Keep qq’ing demanding for LA to be rebuilt like a bunch of whiny little kids) The topic has been discussed both before it happen and after by just about everyone who frequents the forums so basically it’s been beaten to death as a topic.
For the living world concept to gain any type of merit it has to change the game world, and it really can’t be instanced, I’d agree that some of the battles are better instanced but as a whole the LW content really can’t be if it is truly going to work the way the developers have stated their intent for it to work, how believable would it be to be in a instance for the knight battles only to leave that instance and have LA look like it wasn’t touched?
It’s starting to appear like the folks calling for it to be “put back to normal…right now!” are just qq’n because they lost their favorite spot to stand around and socialize with others, it wasn’t game breaking to destroy LA, it was in fact a very good idea and the longer it takes to rebuild the more it makes the LS believable as a evolving story that dynamically effects the world of Tyria.
Like others have stated I hope LA never returns exactly to the place it was before the attack, yea I’d like all the convenience items returned at some point, but not over night, I’m fine if it’s fall of ’14 before LA returns new and improved.
And of course this is JMHO
