Q:
Flame & Frost fix anti-farm code?
I’ve found the opposite; drops are much better than they were on 1/27. I’ve gotten at least 30 T6 mats doing the two dailies + fractals today.
I’m not asking how your drops are.. since you may have not hit the anti-farm code.
I’m looking for proof if they’ve fixed it, or notes on it.. or removed it.
They deemed it as a bug… so unless they’ve fixed it…. it’s still a bug.
thanks for the reply
I’ll take it as a no…. Since no one had a clue
They fixed nothing, just boosted bag drops.
Dang . Makes the game feel sheetty to play when you’re not getting items.. makes you really think … hummm… unlucky or anti-farm… terrible feeling.
I don’t think they’ve ever deemed it as a bug, read the stickied thread at the top about sharing loot drop behaviour. They pretty much haven’t even acknowledged there’s a problem.
And loot drops from open world events haven’t improved for me since the patch.

so far out of all mmo’s on the market worth playing, this on has to worst loot rate! I love this game, I love this company, and would love to play this game, but for lack of loot, it’s really becoming harder to motivate myself. Even my wife (shes a casual who plays all day long-so she’s a “Hardcore Casual”) who has been really loving this game up till recently now that shes done did practically all she can, has decided to work towards her Legendary. Now that shes actually paying attention to drops and what not shes ready to quit cause she realizes that she gets no loot. no loot means no monies. no monies means no buying things needed to purchase her Legendary. Her Legendary is all she has left to play towards, if its gonna take her forever and a day because of no loot to get the things she needs to get her Legendary, well to be nice she’s ‘bout had enough.
Me on the other hand I have no ambitions like hers to get all areas open, do all story, do all dungeons, play all classes, max all crafts (yes she has did this all). I only play games for the Lootz and this one so far has none!
To be nice I will say I’m only still hanging around hoping Anet gets back to their roots and fixes this, if not… well ESO will be out soon and I will be ready to receive it!
Thanks Syn!
Yes, Please Anet hear our cry
While actually playing the game (Even if there isn’t hundreds of posts) all the gamers have this issue on the back of their mind. Its a terrible stigma to have in a game!
There’s a sticky post on the general forum that was “re-started” from a perpetually living one that went on for 2 months after the 11/15 patch that borked the drop rates.
It’s still there and still receiving posts.
I think it’s hard to say really…..
In my experiance if I ever try to"grind/farm" whatever you want to call it, in MF gear or not it just plain sucks, you seem to get little to nothing for your troubles. However if I am running a new alt working towards 100% world for him then of course I see loot. It really seems hit and miss to me.
I came from a game that very much rewarded players with loot. I have to say this and even GW1 were always lacking in that department and there are a few reasons why.
For GW1 the biggest problem was there was no system really in place for players to build up or “gather” “wealth”. There was a very low limit to the amount of cash one could hold. Also the banking system both here and there pretty much lends towards that.
In this other game that I played you would pretty much ALWAYS get a drop from a mob. Even if it was a crappy 2 gold (same as 2 copper here) you would get a drop. The loot tables varied a lot for each and every monster and many of them had certain items that you would kill them specifically for. Sure it’s kind of the same here with examples of certain monsters dropping claws etc but really it works very different.
Apart from that every monster also had a chance to drop items that could take you on a “treasure Hunt” where possible good rewards waited at the end. There were just many fun drops you could get from monsters that were pretty cool bonuses, such as this treasure Hunt I just spoke of there were also others that I just can’t think of right now.
Also this other game really supported and even encouraged wealth building which I think is a very much needed thing in games like this. For example the bank slots stacks pretty much were unlimited, well not true as the limit was something like 2.5 billion or so. So if I wanted to bank 2.5 million gold pieces, log or ore of one type I could. I didn’t have to have stacks of 250 all over the place wasting up other precious bank spaces. Also the total limit of bank slots here is 30x 8 which is only 240 even that with all the dedicated slots in the collectables section combined does not come close to what we had in this other game which had each and every slot slot with a max limit at 2.5 bil. So none of this more than one slot nonsence for holding the same item type.
I really think they need to look at these things as well as looking at the loot drops themselves. If I spend anywhere from 10 seconds -2 minutes killing a monster be it vet, champion or regular I dang will want to be rewarded for it each and every time. No I don’t expect exotic, rare, green or heck even blue items all the time; even just a simple 2 measly copper would do just fine. It’s just better to get SOMETHING rather than NOTHING.
The way it is right now I find it BETTER to go and kill things in the noob areas such as Queensdale. Why? Because I kill thngs in 2-3 hits. Doing this in this flawed system sems the only way you can pretty much get a decent AMOUNT of drops in a decent time frame. You might say but you greatly up your chances of getting crap and you wont be getting tier 6 loots etc. While this is true I find that the averages of my lvl specific drops seem to be alot better in the time frames I do this for than it would be if grinding those higher lvl zones. Simply because as said above I am getting MORE kills FASTER. So I am getting gear my level that I can salavage for leathers, wood, ores and cottons. If I use or sell this I can buy other fine mats I may need. MOST of all playing this way also seems the most fun. I know it seems wrong and out of place and even I agree with that but as I said it just seems the best way to play right now for me anyway. If I go to the higher level areas trying to do this I spend 4-5 times longer killing mobs to get either A nothing or B crap like “eggs”, “meat” that I can get in level 1 zone anyway or if I am lucky maybe every say 10-20 kills an actual item and by that I am meaning something which the game classes as crap as well – that being a “junk” item that you sell with the “sell junk” option at vendors. It’s just all very depressing :S

Please Anet don’t only look at the drop system, look at the banking system, look at the “player wealth” system and at how players LIKE to build up wealth (not only in pure cash) but through collectables etc. If we can get these things sorted out and all working for the game to be more fun, well I can say I’m sure we would see a lot LESS negative posts on the forums about it all…
Oh and one more thing about the banking system. How it is now with the very limited number of items we can hold – it pretty much forces people to sell items on the TP which I do not think is always a good thing. For example I am an avid gatherer of wood, herbs and ores etc. If I could store an unlimited amount of these items in my bank in 1 tab like I could in this other game I would. Purely because I might want to use them at a later date or store them for friends/guildies. But as I say with the limited amount we can hold with the current bank system more and more people just sell them. I am not sure how many players would be like myself and like to hoard up things such as this but I think it might somewhat effect the TP. Thus players who DO sell these items for cash would earn more I would be thinking.
This might sound sad but in this other game the last thing I would do every day before logging out is look through my bank and just be amazed at all the stuff I had stored. The pure cash, the crafting materials, collectables, everything. It can REALLY give you a sense of achivement just having high numbers of things all stored up. Here I can’t do that so much.
Okay I have turned this into a book too much already but the last thing I will say here (just to pre-empt all you negative know it all people out there) – I ALREADY DO have all bank pages unlocked so please please please, do NOT tell me to buy gems to unlock them all. I supported this company on the VERY 1st day buy buying them all up thank you.
PS. Sorry about the 2 posts but it seems Anet do not encourage us to write books for replies as I passed the 5k character limit. :P

Even if they did allow us to build up more gold…what are you going to buy with it? There not many items in the game.
GW2 concentrates on fixed scenarios to play such as: story lines, DE, dungeons, pvp. WvW. There no need for gold unless they introduce things such as customizable housing/guild halls, mounts……which would introduce many new items/treasures you would need gold for.
They fixed nothing, just boosted bag drops.
This is my experience as well, now, don’t get me wrong 50 Heavy moldy bags in 40min is pretty good coin but uninspiring.

and still no significant reply as that thread is the carpet and replies swept under it.

Oh with a lot of imgaination and player input I’m sure we could come up with a lot of ideas. But in order for these great things to come in place the right system needs to be set up for it first, that’s all I’m saying.

Could you include some examples of the “lots of ideas” ?
For those curious about what this forum is about
TL;DR. " when I kill something I want it to drop a rare/exotic because I think having every drop be worth money would make me rich, and just give me a legendary so I can make another post about how bored I’ve become now that I have nothing to work towards"
I’ve spent a few hours looking up anti-farm code and that anet as deemed it as a bug.
lol wut?
Now they say it’s a bug. These guys…
Hey Anet, if you wish hard enough for your game to be awesome, it will come true. You just have to wish really really hard (and be careful not to kitten yourself).
Could you include some examples of the “lots of ideas”?
You could probably fill several forum pages with just suggestions on how to improve the loot system.
I’ll leave you to dig through the forums and find them, though they’re there.

TL;DR “This is my first MMO AND THIS GAME IS HARDCORE – I ACTUALLY HAVE ALL EXO’s AND 2,350 ACHIEVEMENT POINTS!! (HATERS GONNA HATE!)”
My guess is that you have only recently hit 80, thus you can’t the difference from regular drop rate, or nerf’d drop rate.
The old drop-rates were much more realistic since you were rewarded for your time spent. Remember this game cost’s 60 dollars and then free to play there after, that means they need reward people for there time, otherwise they will run off and do something else. I have a feeling ESO will force ANet to raise drops once they have competition and right now they don’t so, who cares right?
While I farmed pent/shelter for my t3, I also only got 1 exotic drop @ 500 hours.
Believe me, I didn’t get rewarded with t3 with every mob I killed, but I did get reward for my time, something you don’t get at all now.
ANet is hell bent on you playing the gated game the way they want you to, even though they had clearly stated, “play the game you want to play”. The gem store was supposed to solve the gold seller problem by cutting out the middle-man, sadly it didn’t work surprise! So in order for them “hurt bots” they nerf’d the game entirely and in turn only punished people who play for a hobby vs. people who play for a living. Gold sellers still have the best currency to gold conversion rate and it is only making the problem worse.
Some people don’t like to buy reward, I am one of them, I like progression.
Progression:
- Glory.
- Laurels.
- Jumping Puzzles.
- Dynamic event’s.
- Dungeons.
- Crafting.
- Gathering.
If you need Badge of honor’s, well you go do jumping puzzles, need karma you go do event’s, need charged lodestones, you farm by design and on top of it they added anti-farm code. I hit DR’s in about 35 to 50 minutes.
Anyhoo I think when ESO comes out they will remove the anti-farm code to entice those on the fence, or gone already to return. Might work… But right now, there is no point of playing just to play, the game isn’t that great for me to feel special that I get to play it. Reward or GTKittenO.

Tbh there already are things in game to spend cash on depending what you like doing. 1 good example is siege for WvW, they aint cheap and you can use up a lot if you play WvW a lot. There is also buying guild points from that guild guy; for small guilds this can be a viable option to help raise up their upgrades. 1 gold for 1k guild points is not that cheap.
Besides that there’s tons we could spend cash on. New clothing, armour, minipets to name a few, they just need to be added. They have mentioned that player owned houses will be looked at and disgussed in the future which you already stated and of course guild halls etc will come.
Now you also missed a main point of my rather large post and that was that building wealth does not mean one has to spend it. It can be a way of looking over your achievments. For example if you have some 50k ores in your bank and you know that you gathered them all that can be a rather awesome thing to check out and remind yourself once in a while just by looking through your bank. It’s silly little things like this that can give some players some sort of sense of accomplishment, wealth building and collecting.
