Looks promising for the PvP crowd. Not really anything that makes me personally excited though.

I guess the Guild missions might be interesting, that remains to be seen though.

The matched PVP sounds interesting. I honestly avoid PVP because I feel like I would get owned hard, but if I were matched with others with similar skill level I could potentially find some enjoyment out of that.

Other than that it’s pretty vague about what we’ll get PVE-wise except for the Guild Missions which intrigue me.

Im in a relative small guild with my GW1 friends, and i dont want to feel obligated to join a big guild to do the quest.

I hope that 5 will still be minimum magical number.

Pretty sure there is going to be PvE content. You must not have installed the latest patch or something.

The new Laurel vendor is not new content, its just a very simple improvement on existing daily quests to encourage us to play old content.

As for the “living story” running around the map doing nothing but talking to a few npcs, something that can be completed in a matter of minutes and then forever ignored should not be labelled “new content”, its an embarrassment.

Not since Fractals has PVE had anything added, meanwhile PVP in the last two months has had multiple of changes, new maps and gameplay.

Its not wise, when you look at other MMO’s they are delivering significantly more content much faster than Guild Wars 2, its depressing as this game did have a strong start with the promise off fast content being delivered to players.

But sadly i would say Guild Wars 2 is now the worst MMO when it comes to delivering fast new significant content.

It’s one thing to release content in smaller than normal chunks, it’s quite another to do what Anet has done so far.

I love stories, half the time I play video games for the stories and/or background, and I’ve been very disappointed with this prelude. It’d be different if the content was being released on a semi-daily basis or what not, or if the longer wait produced more content, but so far we’ve not seen that.

According to Dulfy, for example, the refugee camps in HB and BC have expanded since F&F first dropped, but the amount of content is essentially nothing. Half the npcs don’t even greet you, and the one npc you can have a relatively meaningful conversation with has about 3 lines of dialogue spread over two pages (or something like.) I didn’t even bother to check on the situation in HB.

I’m very worried that this living story is going to develop a serious case of arc fatigue before the arc even begins. It’s like we’re reading a book, but the authors are only releasing one or two sentences of the prologue every couple of weeks. A couple of sentences isn’t enough to hold anyone’s attention for long.

Edit: I want to say I’m not judging it yet, I’m just a bit worried.

For now, there is no life in the living story. To be honest, what we got as January update in regards to PvE till now was not even worth a patch.

If you create a story arch, make people curious. There are many ways to achieve that, but just placing some random npc with no charisma over some maps without anything happening is not the best approach…

Based on the latest Flame and Frost site which doesn’t state it there, expect it March or April. They have until December 2013 to deliver this stuff anyway since it was a 2013 plan and not strictly speaking Feb2013 patch. Correct me if I’m wrong though.

This is why people shouldn’t simply burn through the content.

I didn’t ‘burn’ through content… i played the new content. the problem is that this content has no longevity. I don’t know why the **** does it take them THAT long to release ascended weapons/armor. They keep spamming jewelry that doesn’t even change the appearance of your character when its so needed since the majority of armors are ugly.

I have 397 skill points and finding X enemy or kill 10000000000000 X enemy isn’t much of gameplay. Hunting achievements when they have ZERO use is worthless anyway. I have like 4k and other than monthlies and most dailies i never even bothered doing them because its just yellow numbers that have no purpose.

When he said that he meant that OVER THE NEXT FEW MONTHS we’re going to be getting an Xpac’s worth of content. Not all at once. You’re gonna quit after a simple patch displeases you? There’s no sub? Waddya gonna do, uninstall the icon from your desktop?

If your getting disappointed its because you set up unrealistic expectations. Thats your fault, not theres. They never promised what you were expecting.

The irony of all these posts is when Arenanet first talked about ‘an expansion’ worth of updates, there were thread from people complaining that Arenanet should spend time fixing its current system and world zones before adding anything new which is pretty much what they are now doing.

Infact Colin, clarified his expansion comment, saying he was refering to the new systems and such being added and updated to the game.

From my experiance Arenanet is doing fine for content development. People say they are the worst but frankly Im not sure what MMOs they are comparing them too. I play several and Arenanet is holding its own against them.

I suppose by the end of April we will have had a chance to see what he meant by a expansion’s worth since its still very early days yet.

It will probably be a 5-minimum with a higher upper limit, like some guild content in other games (like in MapleStory. The single Guild party quest required 6 players, but you could shove 100 people in there if you so choose (wouldn’t be very practical though, since the rewards at the end were limited to about 20))

Okay, do you have a legendary yet?

Asides from that, the massive backlash ANet received after the initial release of ascended stuff would be a reason why they haven’t released new ascended stuff yet. Good for them as well, since we all probably know the GW2 community hates change. More so, releasing ascended stuff slowly at least would allow everyone to keep up tier wise on gear, minimizing complaints.

I do not own a legendary and will never waste hundreds of hours of my life+all my gold i got from dungeons/farming lodestones since game launched for one weapon (which i don’t even have enough money for with the stupid precursor prices). Again tho, grinding a legendary isn’t gameplay, but boring solo grind or waste real dollars for gems. I want something to do like dungeons and pvp that doesn’t have sucky objective of capping zones for 20 minutes every match. This is gameplay, not killing 1000 braindead creatures in a deserted world and get +X yellow numbers (achievements) or grind billion mats for a single weapon and then spend all your money you got in the past 6 months… I would gladly ‘grind’ and get a legendary if they were actual drops from dungeons instead of making one in mystic toilet which requires 5 metric tones of mats in an overnerfed world where those mats drop once per century.

It does actually.

These are additions to the game that actually change the way we play it and they’re happening over a fairly long period of time. Xpacs do that, but we get it all at once after being developed over a long period of time.

Understand?

Over a long period of time, GW2 via monthly updates will give us an Xpac’s worth of content because it’s content that changes things. They are additions.

You’re examples reference bug fixes and patches that barely impact the player (unless it’s balance tweaks or something). These do not count as content updates. They’re called hotfixes.

There’s a difference. I’m sure you know this.

Please name the triple A MMOs that have released more content in this amount of time. Prove it.

Releasing stuff fast means more bugs, which means more complaints. Asides from that, let’s not jump to conclusions. We don’t know what March is like. Heck, the February update might be even bigger than you think it is.

This are just excuses though. All this has already been delayed for at least one month. WvW update has been delayed till March.
Just ask yourself what you would expect to see in an expansion, and if that will be in the next few updates or not.

No no landmass, no new profession, no new race.
New dungeons? I doubt that there will be more than one, or any at all.
New story? Well, we had a very weak start on that topic.

Who would buy such an expasion, at least if the person is interested in PvE?

Just ask yourself what you would expect to see in an expansion, and if that will be in the next few updates or not.

No no landmass, no new profession, no new race.
New dungeons? I doubt that there will be more than one, or any at all.

Sadly once again there is no new PVE content, heaps to do for fans of PVP, but we have had no new PVE content introduced since Fractals.

Im starting to think there is no point playing this game anymore as clearly the developers have no interest in PVE.

When he said that he meant that OVER THE NEXT FEW MONTHS we’re going to be getting an Xpac’s worth of content. Not all at once. You’re gonna quit after a simple patch displeases you? There’s no sub? Waddya gonna do, uninstall the icon from your desktop?

No, but people expect a bit more than regular content patches, delivered by most common MMOs if they are promised “an expansion worth of content”.

These content updates are happening over the next few months and altogether they will make up the sort of content that you would find in an Xpac.

If I said I had an apple every monday for a month, I wouldn’t say “MAN I HAD APPLES ALL MONTH!”, now would I?

C’mon, with that argumentation, ever singe AAA MMO out there is offering xpack worth of content all the time. Book updated in LotRO, xpack worth of content. Patch for that real big MMO I do not like, xpack worth of content.

Most other MMOs I’ve played don’t have massive updates the first few months after its released. Lost Shores would be considered a reasonably big one, but too bad not many people were satisfied.

That’s a different story though. I just expect more of an announced “expansion worth of content” than I get from a regular content update in an other MMO.

I fear the day we get a payed expansion with that amount of content…

I’m done with the hype machine, this was supposed to be big, but is ending up like pretty standard monthly mmo updates to me, hidden and defended with the word prelude of course.

I play, and continue to grind for a legendary being the good addict I am, but I’m really not expecting much until that paid expac comes around.

Dont get me wrong, i aint a mindless fanboi. I was expecting a lot more from the promise of the “bringing people back to the low lvl areas” patch. But i have learned to be wary of all the PR talk that comes with every upcoming release of promised content, and also i learned to see things from a major gaming company point of view instead of only just from a gamer (me, me me!) POV. So yes, it sucks that we blow through the new content really quickly, the rest of the new content (which we havent even seen yet) might be disappointing, but wth we gonna do. People complain how crappy nicke-diming micro-tractions and release-day dlc are, but they still lap them up like dogs.

You are in for a hell of a ride, A.Net can sometimes be very frustrating

If ArenaNet took PVE in this game serious the January update would have included the ENTIRE Flame and Frost story line, maybe stretch it over to February but no longer.

They would have also added in at least one new dungeon preferably in relation to the Flame and Frost story line, if not that then at the very least a new fractal.

They promised to revamp all the original dungeons but that could be months away, and with there current obsession in focusing ALL there development time to PVP it looks like PVE will remain almost non existent in this game.

Even when the revamp dungeons finally come who will really care? Unless they are 100% redone with new bosses, story, loot, different paths to follow and new mechanics NO one will run them and it would be a waste of developers time.

It makes me so sad to say this but currently Guild Wars 2 has the worst PVE in the history of MMO’s.

To be honest, I like PvE in GW2. It just misses the stream of new content. Seasonal content is sort of OK, but it feels so unrelated to the story.
I want more story, be it personal, living or whatever. Just make it happen.

It doesn’t matter don’t you understand it? A.Net hates : PvE, casuals, fun, physically disabled people (JUMPING PUZZLES!!?!), GW Veterans, PvP, WvW they basically hate everything. A.Net is the impersonation of hate!

Shrug. I don’t expect huuuge slices of pie, but I do expect them to live up to one game. GW1.

I was disappointed in the opener for this Live event. I talked to every NPC I could find and learned nothing. “Greetings” “How bout this Humidity”. I honestly expected a few of the NPCs would have a story, something to learn about this disaster.

I would not have cared that most of what I did was banging signs and lighting fires, had I been able to find out just a bit more of what is going on.

The storytelling, so far, lacks the quality I saw in GW1.

Really? REALLY? LMAO!

I played Lotro. That game is so pay to win it’s not even funny. That game is a HORRIBLE example of a F2P MMO. Sure you can play it, but not all the content is free. Some of the content you have to buy. Sure they have free upgrades in between, but the last I looked, some professions weren’t included in the base price (2 professions were locked off when I played) and many of the individual areas were off limits.

Do you know how annoying it is to want to play with a friend, but he has different content than you do? Are you really holding up Lotro as a bastion of f2p?

Turbine may not be the greediest company to have ever produced a game, but that’s only because EA exists.
