How has this thread managed to reach this many posts? It’s like a handful of people writing walls of text saying the same thing over and over.
99.999% of the playerbase could care less about this.
If losing a happy meal worth of money that you were using as expendible income on a game is seriously hurting you so much, maybe you shouldn’t have spent that money in the first place. Anet is refunding gems to those who are dissatisfied, so not sure what the problem is. I’ve read the majority of this thread and have seen words like lawsuit and fraud thrown around. Honestly, go outside and get some fresh air. Use the gems on another armor set or save them and wait for one you like.

I finally got my 800 gems refund. No changes were made on the armor, I still got the flamekissed skin on them.

The email response from their CS didn’t indicate any sort of removal or deletion of these skins. So does it mean I can keep them?

Tbh I love this new flame-kissed as well. I wish we had medium armors like this, but it seems the art team loves trenchcoats …

[quote[Keep the old skin…and put it on sale again
remove T3 from vendor
Design a NEW T3
make vendor able to swap the old T3 with the new maybe.[/quote]

This doesn’t solve the problem in any way. It just flips to which side is going to be upset. Players paid 119g for a race exclusive set. I am pretty sure they would be just as unhappy about a new redesign as some of you are with the flame redesign.

They shouldn’t have used old skins and slapped flames on it in the first place.

It looks pretty horrible on Asuras in my opinion – but then, I didn’t buy it in the first place, so that’s money I don’t have to spend

You’ve no right to talk unless you purchased it yourself, only to have it taken away from you again and replaced with something you hate. As stated earlier, refunding the gems is the very LEAST they can do. As a full refund of the $10 spent by everyone that bought it would be the only way to completely fix the situation. So yes, some of us are kittened. Don’t balk at us for wasting our time posting here when you stopped to do the same, and for much less reason even.

Lastly, if Happy Meals where you’re from cost $10… You’re getting ripped off.

1) people that complained deserves to be the one involved..people who bought a skin from TP didn t do anything wrong….should not be involved….
2) they have suddenly the most exclusive set in game (old T3 without flames)
3) you get a choice…..the same choice that flamekissed owners didn t have….
4) you get again a racial exclusive set

Sry if i point this out…
People with your position:
-Never ever considered the damaged part in the incident (players that di absolutely nothing wrong)
-Don t even question on a compromise
-yet you talk what about is fair for you…..

I strongly think that just shows even more the mistake done by anet, even if i like the new set…..its the worst precedent that will be remembered in this game……

P.S. for the money refund…

It looked very bad on my male sylvari main (waist cuts weird, sleeves much too short), so I got a refund. It looks nice on female characters, but that’s been a consistent gripe of mine since launch: most scholar armor seems to be designed by folks who only find women attractive, so they have no idea how to design armor for males.

A start would be to stop chopping the armor at the waist, as it makes a lot of sets look like cheaply-articulated action figures (especially male sylvari). It’s not necessary, as most heavy and medium sets don’t do this, and neither did most GW1 armor.

It bewilders me how many people complaining act as though Anet cave into every loud forum demand. There is massive precedent for them sticking to their guns even in the face of massive community uproar if they believe they’ve done the right thing (see ascended, scarlet etc.), so it’s frankly obvious that the reason they backtracked this time is because they actually agreed with the protests.

Making just one race-exclusive armour set available to all races for cheap via gems is the start of a slippery slope it would be unwise to venture onto. It’s quite clear from their response that they didn’t intend for the flamekissed light armour to look so much like the Tier 3 human cultural. It devalues some of the limited prestige armour in-game for gold, defeats the object of culture-specific armour, and I wouldn’t want to be the one in charge of adapting some of the other race-specific armours for humanoid use, for instance.

They made a mistake. It’s on them, not the people who rightfully complained. And to fix it, they’re refunding gems based apparently on the amount of personal inconvenience caused, AND letting people keep the revised skins, by the look of it.

It sucks that people got attached to the old skin and got burned by it, it really does, and I sympathise, but the people crying fraud and bait and switch really need to take a step back and review this objectively. The light flamekissed armour was not handled the same way as the other two sets in the armour series, and it has now been made consistent with them. This is how it should have been released.

Anet are fixing their mistake and compensating those affected by it. Personally I’d much rather see a company admit mistakes and correct them than keep charging blindly ahead no matter the damage it does. I wish they’d handled other problems with the game in a similar fashion and “listened to the QQers”.

I’ve been thinking on this a lot lately, and I think there is one thing that would have redeemed this entire situation for me.

For female Asura, keep the cute feather helm that female humanoids get. Just that one change would have made me keep it.

They avoid making gender specific armors for Asura, but I really wish that this particular helm was just a little different, and female Asura could have a feather helm that makes them pretty and doesn’t cover their hair.

That one change, and I would not have requested my gems back.

That request and my reasons for asking it have been flat out ignored in 3 emails over the last 3 days now… they just don’t acknowledge it at all in their answer when you ask.

Don’t know whats everyone complaining about, new flamekissed looks much better. Plus it was ridiculous to have a CULTURAL ARMOR, available for every race in the first place. There’s really no before and after here, I never bothered to buy the original one because I simply didn’t liked it. Now I love the new and improved flamekissed.

It looked the same, with added fire. When that was the case it was no longer racial exclusive. It was a mistake to make it in the first place.

You assume those against it are all lumped into your category there. For the record, I did indeed consider it. But in the end they need to either unlock the racial armor in which case I can pay a lot to transmute off or get rid of it. Those chose to get rid of it and now some players who paid for it are unhappy.

Comes down to personal taste. Some like it and some do not.

I bought it for my charr elementalist as well, As it doesn’t look like human t3 on a charr, and lets face it human t3 is F*ing awful anyway.

Original Flamekissed head, arms, and chest blended with pheonix legs and shoulders

http://i276.photobucket.com/albums/kk2/kivan_69/gw329_zps247913b9.jpg

Now the dirty ugly flamekissed with my pheonix pieces

http://i276.photobucket.com/albums/kk2/kivan_69/gw369_zps7e8a07cc.jpg

I am very disappointed. Not sure why anet backed down to a couple of QQ’ing noobs, reality is the t3 human was equal in value to the gemstore if bought using gold → gems anyway rolls eyes

I have to request a refund now for Pheonix Armor, and Flamekissed Light Armor. Not to mention the value of the dyes (midnight ice, Celestial) amongst other stuff.
