Flameseeker prophecies to be subpar in HoT?
yes those are main hand weapons ofcourse they affect your grenades why would your off hand change em?
@up
Legendary warhorn gives an aura effect and this is off hand only too
For one, mesmers will be able to use shields (off-hand only, I guess, main-hand sounds unlikely), so that’s a new point to make it better (provided that shield mesmers aren’t nerfed to the ground because ESPORTS and PORTAL AND CLONES OP PLS NERF).
But IIRC off-hand only legendaries have always been subpar, and I’m not sure if they ever gonna add new effects. More so, the new legendaries might be themed to the new specializations (like the druid Raven staff teaser), so mesmers will get a mesmery shield and no one would care about the old shield.
I worked just as hard as anyone who made a quip for their main hand, so I’m not allowed to have special effects?

No since thats the effects the item have, I do agree that its above bad that you dont throw the actual shield you have equiped tho.
You could have spent 30seconds checking the wiki what effects flameseeker prop gave mate.
Throw… Shield…?
Oh! Your playing that class that has had complaints every day since Day One about the inescapable hobo-sack, and you’re thinking that ANet cares one iota about the looks of that class’ skills when you have a legendary equipped?
I’m not gonna tell you to not go down that road, but I will tell you there is nothing but tears to be found there. Its one of the great mysteries how this hasn’t been fixed in 2.5 years because believe me this is FAR from the first thread about it.
I wonder what your basis for comparison is…”

When The Flameseeker Prophecies is wielded, the book on the front as well as much of the background glows blue.
When The Flameseeker Prophecies is first drawn and whenever you use a skill, a glowing blue page turns on the book.
The user leaves foggy footprints.
The user’s body is coated in a fog aura.
At night a moon appears at the wolf’s head.
When drawn, small drops of water burst from the user’s body.
Upon blowing the horn, the wolf’s head howls and makes a faint howling sound; a moon illuminates in the crescent of the horn, and sparkles appear around it; and a ghostly wolf head appears for a brief moment.
For Necromancer tango icon 20px.png, Life Transfer and Tainted Shackles have the same effects as when using a horn skill if entering death shroud whilst wielding Howler.
The “mouth” of the torch opens and closes.
Weapon model replaces generic model on torch throw skills.
The player’s footprints leave fire.
The arm holding the torch is on fire.
Enemies killed by Rodgort will display burning death animations.
A purple aura and large musical notes and symbols float around the focus.
Leaves notes as footprints (even if another legendary weapon is equiped).
Based on the wiki the first is the Flameseeker, the offhand shield. The second being the Howler, the offhand warhorn, this is the Rodgort and lastly the minstrel.
This points out that even though this minstrel has two effects only there is still footprints. Something everything else does.
The flameseeker is most diffidently without a doubt lacking visual effects.

In my opinion the Flameseeker prophecies is one of the coolest looking items in the game. It also is the legendary that is strongest tied to lore in the guild wars universe.
The biggest problem with it in my opinion is that the shield is only usable by 3 classes.
The guardian who constantly has aegis which puts a giant blue shield particle effect over the shield making it less viable and is not one of the more commonly used weapons for them.
The warrior who I don’t think has ever had a commonly ued build that include the shield.
Lastly the engineer who would be an ok choice for it, but they spend a good bit of their time with a bundle and their shield not visible and the throw shield skill has never been fixed to show the actual shield the engi is holding and instead always throws the default shield.
Maybe the chronomancer shield will be strong enough that more people get it and complain about its lack of “legendary” effect and you will get your wish.
The realistic reason for now getting an upgrade is most likely that nobody uses shields.
I mean Warriors love their GS and even if they use a one handed weapon, the Warhorn is just too useful to pass up in most situations.
Guardian shield is just as useless.
Engis typically use Rifles.
Shields are like Hammers, they have basically no place in most pve situations because they are purely defensive. And even in pvp they are often inferior to utility offhands like Focus or Warhorn.
No point in upgrading a legendary nobody sees.
I dont know, the Minstrel doesnt have an aura or footsteps either, its why i like it so much, its not obnoxious and its why im getting the flameseeker prophecies as well. Aside from the lore it has and aside from me playing GW1 for 7 years. I truly hope it doesnt get change as i like the effect of it already without footsteps and auras…
Yeah, when you throw your Flameseeker prophecies, there should be an additional effect.
But not simply throwing the shield. No. It should throw the flameseeker herself: A vision of glint should pop from the shield and bite the target.
bump – please improve it for engi – special effects for kits like with quip or new sound effects maybe. chronomancers and revenants will also want a better looking shield
