Flawed/Broken
I’m trying to gather a consensus about whether this game is too hard or too easy, and it’s been pretty tough!
I’ve heard that Elementalist is one of the harder classes to play. I know that GW2 supports single-person play pretty well, but it sounds as though you’ll need to buddy up to get over your rut.
Well yea, that would be helpful. But none of my friends have this. And asking help over chat dont do much either, and I get it, people have their own progression and goals to think about.
Oh I left out same issue regarding map completion. If your alone, prepare for alot of running and suicide missions.
You are doing it wrong. It’s that simple. Stop, rethink, and try again. That goes for your “personal” missions as well as your world completion. I’ve done both on a Warrior and an Elementalist, I have many times cursed the game to only come back with a different tactic and succeed.
So youre saying the difficulty level is right where it should be..?
As far as I’m aware, the game doesn’t scale difficulty in order to accommodate single player play compared to group play, which essentially means that solo play is Hard Mode. I’ve come across a fair few areas – skill points, vistas, etc – that have been tougher to get because I play solo a lot, but I’ve managed to get around them with some thought. However, this is where guilds and a social/friendship group come in handy and, frankly, is the easiest way to overcome any of the difficulty spikes that are probably necessary in order to keep group players engaged.
Single player-instances are still brutally difficult atleast with elementalist, not helping is your npc-buddies are next to worthless getting killed instantly, getting stuck and going places they shouldnt. And so you end battling bossmonsters on your own messing up your gear while your at it. Good Luck with that especially on levels 70+
It is hard to solo the storyline. I tried to do it in the early levels (1-20) during closed beta and it was incredibly hard. What’s worse is I don’t get any kind of reward for helping you complete your missions. So, if I don’t know you and I’m just a random person, why should I help you complete it? <— It is that kind of perspective that disappoints me when it comes to the story quests in this game.
I play with my girlfriend, and we’re on the same quests now. Playing together is great. We can pretty much kill anything together. On our level 80 elementalists (we’re both 80ele and she’s also working on a low level warrior), we can duo champions together, complete world events, and pretty much do anything together.
I think what you need, is a friend to play with. I am certain there are people around here looking for a new friend!
Message me.
Are you willing to change servers? (I think server changing is free)
What time zone are you in?
What time do you usually play?
Want to play together?
Do you have a microphone?
:D

I found all of the single player instances EXTREMELY easy. At most points I was completing them when they were 15-20 levels higher then I was. It required playing smart, but it was still rather easy.
It’s simple, stuff is balanced around Warrior, and all other classes can suffer as a result! Great design, bravo, bravo.
They should, in my opinion, let you gather a group of companions – possible edit their builds slightly or choose their general fighting style. They could have done this with your childhood friend. As an elementalist could have his friend be very tanky offering a much better experience of the game.
It would hve the double benefit of keeping your childhood friend with you all story, therefore making that character more developed and interesting – and personal to your race/background choices.
