FoV slider?
Aye, this is needed. Makes me feel so dizzy when I return to Guild Wars 2 after playing other games that allow wide, natural FOV settings. The “telescope” view we have here is extremely frustrating on larger screens.
Considering how many people agree that the FoV is too low, they must have a good reason why such a feature has not yet been implemented…what it is, I have no idea.
Currently, the only way to increase your FoV is by playing in windowed mode and manually scaling down the vertical resolution so it is much wider than it is tall.
Like so…
The FoV has actually been edited once – back in 2012 around the first Halloween.
I think one of the big issues is that all races share the exact same camera position as one another, so the FoV has to work for all of them. But I agree a slider might be a good idea…

The cameras on the different races are all different; they’re mounted depending on the character’s height. Even if they were all mounted the same, there wouldn’t be any sort of issues with the FoV.
That being said, the ridiculously low FoV in this game is honestly appalling. I’d like to see the ability to set an actually reasonable 90-100 FoV, and the ability to scroll farther out from your character would be nice as well. Playing this game just feels really squished in close to the back of the character.

Alright.. So I might have less issues playing another race, or is it all more or less the same? I didn’t get this motion sick when playing human when I first started out, but trying one of the plant people now.. So that might be why it’s so much worse? Could play for an hour or two back in 2012, now I get sick after 10 mins.
I felt the same way when playing GW2 again last week after months of only playing other games. I did map completion in Divinity’s Reach, and I noticed that after a couple minutes I got a bit nauseous. I also felt heavily restricted in my view, as if I had blinders on. This is really not okay for a modern video game, I don’t know any other games with such bad FoV and bad camera and no customization. GW2 desperately needs a FoV slider, the ability to position the camera higher up on your character instead of on the chest, and a first person view.
I’m hoping to get used to it again somehow since I got used to it after a while when I started playing the game, but back then I wasn’t playing any other games at the same time. Now I’m playing 2 other games regularly as well, and this makes me notice the difference all the more. I feel badly restricted and nauseous when playing GW2 as opposed to other games.
I’m not sure if this will help, but if it’s an issue between the original FoV and the change they made to it a long time ago, this switch will get you the original look.
