I am currently trying to complete the Meteorlogicus 1 collection and I have 14 out of the 15 required pieces. The only piece that I am missing is the same piece that I started to get when I began the collection – Fog’s Damp. Even though it’s the piece I’ve been trying to get for the longest period of time, I have still never seen Shaemoor Cemetery in fog.

To my understanding, the fog only appears if the Lady In White is in the Cemetery for several minutes without having the event triggered and the Lady killed. However, in all the times I’ve waited for the fog to appear, every single time a player (typically a new player, since it’s right at the human starter location) has spoken to her and killed her, even if I whisper begging them not to.

So, I have a solution I hope you can put into effect. Make the fog appear at the same time as when the Lady becomes available for her Event. Or, have her appear maybe a few times during the night. Or, just have the fog trigger at a set time whether she’s killed by a new player or not. Having to rely on new players to hopefully not do exactly what seems like the right thing for them to do to get an item is a) not fun, and b) very frustrating.

I did that collection a couple months ago, the fog comes creeping pretty much immediately. Get there before nightfall (check the wiki for day-night cycle) and you can’t miss it. The actual spot to sample the fog was just outside the gate, at least for me. Even if someone interacts with her as soon as she spawns, you’ll have time to sample before she becomes hostile – the key is just being there before it actually becomes full night.

Hope that helps!

Sadly it does not. I’ve been there 5 mins early for five nightfalls yesterday, and not single time did the fog trigger. I feel like I’m going insane trying to get this stupid item.

I’ve never seen it miss, unless someone triggered & killed the lady (which happens fairly often). It took me three tries, but only because I didn’t realize I had gotten credit on try #2 (try #1 included an early-triggered lady).

Your best bet might be to try to get there for the first night time after a reset. Another possibility is to ‘guest’ (not transfer) to other worlds if the instance you’re on doesn’t fog. Another option is to wait for Queensdale to be the target for the 4-event daily (for new or veteran accounts) — on such days, there are a lot more instances of Queensdale, which gives you more maps to tr.

The fog and collection item was obtained as soon as it transitioned to night for me as well. I was the only person around and I didn’t see the NPC you mentioned either. I also had a timer set so I can be there before Dusk.

The event (and thus the fog) does not trigger every nightfall, but when it does, it shows up immediately. You can easily recognize this by seeing bats appearing at the gate entrance.

Actions, not words.

My problem is that’s what happened Every Single Time. Was driving me nuts. I finally got the item after going into the area when not many people were on. Weirdly it still didn’t show any fog, but a few minutes into night the item showed up so I’m glad I never have to do that again.

For the sake of future Meteorlogicus creators, I hope ANet will consider letting people get Fog’s Damp from the Cemetery any time during the night, because repeatedly trying and hoping nobody triggers the event every 2 hours was soul crushing.

idk why you’d want to do the collection doesnt it cost more to make than buy?

If cost is the only reason, it’s almost always better to buy outright: the small savings for some of the collections is more than offset by the value of the crafter’s time.

People choose the collection for a variety of reasons other than cost: some people find it more fun, some prefer to be able to work at their own pace (rather than building up the cash for the precursor and spending it at one time), and some are just looking for any hint of a story to go along with the journey.
