Q:
Forge or Sell Exotic Greatswords?
If you don’t need the gold, chuck them in the Toilet.
Then if you get Dawn or Dusk, salvage it using a basic kit for a laugh.
I have the perfect solution. Sell the exotics on TP. Use the gold you got from selling them for crafting rare GS. Gamble!!!
If you don’t really need the 200 gold (not that much anyway) flush them…you might loose…but you might actually win big time.
I never sell any rare/exotic weapons…i hoard them as much as i can then i forge… got 1 Dawn untill now, also i never buy weapons or crafting materials…only what i get from playing(SW, World Bosses, Dungeons, Fractals) Never spend money on rares/exotics
and i always salvage rare clothes, i only sell the exotic clothes that are worth more than 3 gold a piece.
200 gold is much to me >.<
Anyway it’s not a good sign when you’re looking to other people to help you justify gambling. If you’ve come this far, your mind is already trying to tell you not to gamble. :P

Oh trust me, I’ve considered that. However, 200+ Gold worth of Rare GS isn’t worth the additional risks of attempts. I’d rather just craft Rare GS from all the T5 I get from WvW, and slowly pump those into the MF.

Actually, I only like to donate to Zommoros in big batches. That’s why I’m at the cross roads of either selling them all, or forging them all.

I would sell any GS that has a higher lowest listing than 4g, mf the rest.

Yeah this is better if you really want to forge. This way you will at least get to hit the button more times.
So I’ve been amassing a small collection of 84 exotic GS. I saved up all exotics that Zommoros gave me from MFing Rare GS, or crafted directly thanks to cheap Flawless Snowflakes. I’m at a loss as to what I should do with them right now, since new Precursors will most likely only come from the tier 4 Mastery in HoT.
- If I sold them, I estimate that I’d get about 212 Gold after TP taxes. That’s a guaranteed 212 Gold.
- If I MF them, I’ll have 27 chances at getting Dawn or Dusk. That’s a 0.8% chance x 27 tries to get an item worth 700 to 1,000 Gold. But I also get the satisfaction of attempting to get a Precursor (thanks ludomania!)
Should I sell them or just take a shot in the dark and MF them?
If you got Mystic forge stones use them with the exotics gs and give it a go more chances to get dawn or dusk

I believe if you do that, you’ll receive things other than greatswords.
Not sure how you get 27 tries out of 84. 84/4 = 21. Based on my (and apparently, many others) experiences with the forge, my guess is you’ll end up with 21 items, none of them precursors. That’s the practical take.
On the other hand, it’s my guess that part of you wants to roll the dice, but another part hopes someone will talk you out of it. Since I’m also guessing you know the odds, the practical side is (currently) losing.

That’ll give you less of a chance. Forge stones act as a random replacement. So, throwing in three exotic GS and a forge stone is the same as throwing in three exotic GS and an exotic axe (for example).

My guess is that OP would reroll the resulting items back into the forge.
84/4= 21
21/4= 5*
5/4= 1*
21+5+1 = 27
