Many times on the forum I’ve read the posts of players wanting to go to Cantha, Elona or where ever. They want a new area to explore, they want a new race and/or class and so on.

I think making a story based in the Dominion of Winds would be a great way to possibly fulfill those wants.

The Dominion of Winds could have a look and feel of Cantha, since the Tengu traveled there after being forced out of Cantha. So it would be like a small piece of Cantha behind those walls. Plus it’s a new place to explore. (This would however only work out if Anet finds a way to please both the South Korean and Chinese players or else Anet could turn the Dominion of Winds into a giant hole in the ground like they did to the Cantha distract in Divinity’s Reach).

It would introduce the Tengu who at this point has very little if really no impact, influence or presence in the game.

The Tengu could become a new playable race and possibly introduce a new class.

As you already noted in your post …

They said a long time ago they will not add anything that looks like Cantha, maybe because of political reasons. The Canthan district of Divinity’s Reach was removed before release and replaced with a giant hole (later the Crown Pavilion).

That said I really, really hope the Dominion of Winds appears soon! Mainly because the map space for their city and starter map is already present.

I think the Ritualist class would fit in perfectly with the addition of the Tengu. The lore of both the Tengu and Ritualist are heavily influence by ancestors.

What we know about the Tengu inside the Dominion of Winds is that they struggle with Destroyers inside of their walls.

So, I’m predicting that the Dominion will open up following a Destroyer-themed story update. It would take some serious desperation to get the Tengu to drop their (entirely understandable in their case) racial distrust and open the gates.
