Fortune's Vale - Map for GLOBAL RAIDING
Technically speaking it wasn’t going to involve 3 servers fighting over it, per se…I’m not even sure I can talk about what it would have been like…whether the map still exists or not is a completely different story. Especially since that map is from 2013, over 2 years ago, but I will say one thing…if was freaking awesome…and I’d comment on the YouTube page, but I don’t want a flaming YouTube channel just to flipping comment.

Thanks for the reply. I’m surprised nobody is interested in this at all…
Started watching the vid. The game could definitely use new content to get players involved. Not interested enough anymore to watch all the way through, but it wouldn’t hurt the game to say the least.
The interesting thing to consider is, how much content has ANet worked on and then thrown out? But I do wonder if things like these couldn’t be somehow re-purposed. Not sure about turning it into a raid. Depends on how large it is i.e. how long could you expect to complete it, assuming you’ve littered it with some boss fights.
That map (and the tyria 3D-website) are amazing.
We do not know why the map was removed. Did A-Net found out, that the map “does not work” or that they had not enough ressources to finish it? Maybe it was too linear. Maybe it was too big for a dungeon/raid instance. Maybe it was for a WvW-gamemode that was canceled.
But I think that this map was in a late development stage when it was deleted. Because it was already included in the client and it is a big detailed map. So there was a lot of time and money invested in building this map.
But because A-Net is working on HoT now, I do not think that they are able to put much work in finishing this map in the near future.
This map is absolutely amazing. Just from the 3D render there is so much detail and nuance and design to it. It’s absolutely amazing. Whether this is a WvW game type, or a big guild raid, or a multiple group instance, I think it would be absolutely amazing to play. I think this would be a breakthrough for Guild Wars 2.
Whether it’s still in the DAT or not, I sincerely hope ArenaNet is still working on it behind the scenes, or at least have it on back burner while they are gearing up for HoT. I would love to see this in a feature path after HoT for bigger group raids or guild events.
The map was likely removed to prevent possible conflicts with other companies/games. It is almost a perfect clone of the standard “Three Way RvR” that other DAoC clones have adapted, including the “snow”, “desert”, and “green” areas, the overall “radiation symbol” layout, and the assignment of the colors of red, green, and blue.
Of course this is just speculation. As far as I know, nobody actually owns the concept, and this wouldn’t be the last game to use it anyway.
For some reason they avoided this overall design when making Eternal Battlegrounds. It has a strange, uneven, and unbalanced “square” layout. That makes it somewhat more fun than the standard RvR design, but also more problematic. If the objectives were arranged more symmetrically, and without Stonemist Castle in the center, offensive and defensive power of each color would be more aligned.
I’m usually really sweet… but this an internet forum and you know how it has to be.

I’d just love to see them change this map into an actual usable game mode. It looks a lot of fun to play with.
