Great sage equal of heaven? I’d like that too.

Anet have said many times the forum software was provided by a third-party who no longer maintains it and they [Anet] don’t have the skills or resources to do so.

make a new forum then?

Or … create a whining section and throw all the whining topics in it ( u can even call it “garbages”)

If they have 200k to sink into a pvp tournament, I think they could afford to hire someone to fix the boards up.

The best thing Anet could do is to completely delete this forum and make a complete new offical forum with better forum tools ect that has than actualyl also a freaking WORKING SEARCH FUNCTION.

Its kind of ridiculous and absolutely shameful, that this forum here exists sicne 3 years.
3 years of not having a god darn fixed search function!!!
Clearly shows you, how much Anet cares about their own forums… because the simple answer here is – not at all..

They waste rather 200000€ for Esports as tournament rewards, than to put that amount of money, or at least a great part of it better into important game fixes, improvements and forum fixes, that are direly needed since game release that simply would help everyone to restore some faith and their image as developers, that many players have lost over the last years in Anet.

Or do you think it leaves back a good image on the developer, that is unable to fix a simple search function of their official forums since 3 years???

Do you really have faith in a game developer developing a good game, that is unable to fix their own forums for 3 years long already???

I can answer here only for myself.. I still have faith in them.. but Im also pretty sure, that there are thousands over thousands of players out there in the world, which have already answered that question for themself a long time ago with a hard direct NO and quit the game, because it simply throws no good light back onto the developers, when they simply aren’t able to fix their own forums for such a long time.

Sure thing, fixing forums search functions is guaranteedly no sduper over the TOP Priority, like fixing game bugs or working on content and so on, but as player and active forum user one should at least expect from Anet, that they should be self interested in it to fix such things as quickly as possible and not let 3 years go by without caring at all, nor any communication about it, simply said putting the topic dead under the carpet of silence and seemingly ingoring it in hope, that players simply forget it …

So, here’s what I heard/read:

They got an external developing team to design the website. This meant that all development was left to a team outside of A-net’s control.

The company the team belonged to ended up disappearing.

So now, A-net can’t do anything to address the broken search bar, nor can they get the developers to fix it. To fix it, they’d have to make an entirely new website… which is inconvenient cost-wise and for the fact that we’d lose the 3+ years of threads here.

Using the “they spent $200k on a PvP tournament” argument is absolutely unnecessary. Funding a serious esport tournament, to advertise GW2 and to bring in more players, has its own long-term benefits.

Strangely Ryan Alyea.5418 (Forum Development Team) had his very last post on this thread. 2 years ago… soon after the search bug struck.

Yes, we had a search engine in the beginning, but it was broken by our forum contractor in the course of working on other things. We no longer have a relationship with that contractor or his company, and someone else is not able to step into the system and fix the search engine because (1) our programmers are tasked with other essential work, (2) the forums run on a web framework with which most of our programmers are not familiar and (3) we’re investigating other options for forums and it would not be prudent to pour money into hiring someone to fix this as a short-term solution.

Also not real fix but some person post this page some time ago that use Google forum search to search forum. I use it and find helpful to search.
