I would recommend a page where players can see which bugs in game are known, which are worked on, which not. Just those simple lists from A to Z. Players will be thankful to see you actually working on bugs etc. (we know you do, but then you can actually see it), and it would prevent getting bug reports about the same thing all over again. Maybe make the bugs a hyperlink with all related reports to this bug in particular.

The short story is: they can’t, not any more than any software developer has such a list, even with clients with whom they have a single point of contact. The closest companies have is a curated list, that takes things identified by the client as urgent or important and tracks their progress. That doesn’t make sense with a game, because the community has drastically different ideas of what needs to be fixed ASAP and/or what counts as critical. Plus, often we don’t even know enough about what we want to form the correct request (aka “be careful what you ask for”).

To be fair, that is a manually curated list that only covers a “handful” of issues. It’s better than nothing, but it certainly isn’t anything close to what the OP would like to see.

Of course, ANet could do a better job of keeping us up-to-date and it’s theoretically possible for them to have a better set of tools. But that would require that they devote more people to keeping us informed, which means moving people off of actually creating or fixing stuff for us.

It’s a tricky balance for any software developer to manage.

Just as with Stickies, a list of ‘known bugs’ would not keep people from reporting/posting about them.

I doubt there would be much advantage to declaring a ‘bug’ is not being worked on.

We do get a list, usually every two weeks (or more often), of bugs that have been fixed.
