I farmed about 200 elder and ancient wood last night with zero Firefox cluster drops. I had the usual boosts on and at worst I usually get got one or two Foxfire drops farming that amount of wood. Anyone get a Firefox cluster drop since the tangled paths patch?

Yeah, I cut down like 6 trees (elder/ancient) and got three of them. It’s all RNG.

Try cutting down stuff in the new zone, i tend to get more of them there

pretty sure theyre also mob drops in silverwastes, i always seem to have 1 in my inventory after running around and not cutting down trees. but i havent actually seen myself pick 1 up on the side bar.

Drop rate seems increased to me. Got 2 clusters from the same tree yesterday, that has never happened before.

I’ve actually noticed that Foxfire drops seem to be much higher in the Silverwastes than elsewhere. I have a funny feeling that it’s due to the “Perseverance” buff; somehow, the MF bonus is applying to the chance to get rare items from nodes in the Silverwastes. I’ve also noticed I seem to get much more Prickly Pears and Crystals/Orbs too. (Sadly this bonus does not seem to extend to my Watchwork Pick’s sprocket rate.)

Oddly, although MF is not supposed to affect gathering, I’ve seen more Foxfire Clusters from SW than the usual spots in Orr. Could be placebo, but perhaps not — Perseverance and MF do affect chests in SW. There’s no hard data to tell us otherwise, though.

Three days ago I got 5, today I got 3. They are still falling, just not everyday.

Yeah. The really interesting bit of data is how the supply of Foxfire has spiked immensely whenever the new LS chapters came out (i.e. a huge flood of people into Silverwastes). It happened immediately after Nov 4, and then supply/demand stabilised, presumably as players dispersed again after they’d gotten their Tendons/achievements. And then it rocketed off again after the 18th.

RNG still plays a role; last night I only got 2 Foxfires from a harvesting run across all of SW. The night before, it was 5. But that’s still notably more than what I get doing a harvesting run in, say, Southsun Cove, which has a roughly similar amount of T5 and 6 wood nodes. (There, I typically only manage 1 – 2, sometimes 3 if I’m lucky.)
