Hey there,
So Ive been hoarding fractal relics (not pristine..just the regular relics) since FoTM was released. I have no use for them, at the present other than to purchase the +5 agony resist, which costs 75 relics I believe.

Ive been debating about throwing a few hundred or so at obsidian shards, but I am not sure if arenanet has plans to open up gear or opportunities to get different infusions with with these relics. I don’t want to blow half my relics on things, and then in a month or two Arenanet announces that new infusions will be available via relics, or an easier way to upgrade current ascended into an infused ascended.

Thoughts? Has arenanet mentioned anything about revisiting the value and purpose of these relics?

I’ve been using my Fractal Relics to give alts multiple 20-slot bags, cheaply.

Pristine fractal relics are even worse. You can’t even do anything with them when you are fully decked out in rings. Can’t even throw them at obs shards/skill points. At least the regular relics have an outlet.

Anet needs to stop putting things in that obsolete themselves. (Even the ascended rings obsolete themselves.) I’m to the point where I will be saying “Yay! Another 4 silver!” when I get more. I won’t keep any more rings in my vault hoping that one day they will let us salvage them…

Spineguards annoy me even more. You see that yellow/orange icon pop up while looting and you are like “WOO! ECTOZ!” and then you see that you got a spineguard and you are all Sadface. It tricks you. Vendor for 2s…

Save them. They could introduce more items to the vendor.

But as stated above, you could use them on bank slots for your alts.

I hadn’t thought about bags. Hmm, thanks.

Seriously though, its going to be my luck that they introduce something neat with relics once I blow a bunch. Part of their new vision for 2013.

I wouldn’t spend relics on obsi shards unless I had to. Right now there isn’t really any karma sink besides buying obsi shards, unless you’re going for some karma-specific armor.

Spineguards are awesome. When the game launched, good spineguards were notoriously difficult to obtain. People were reaching level 80 with none (the only sources were Personal Story and the guild vendors for insane prices). I think they simply didn’t finish that part of the game. Now when you ding 80 you can obtain a cheap and really useful spineguard for a low price. No need to worry about competing with ecto value, just buy the gear and enjoy some nice armour.

Sure it might not be cool getting less value from the spineguard without being able to salvage it, but it really helps out a lot of people with equiping fresh 80s (less of an issue now that we have karma trinkets).
