Q:
Free Trial?
I think it should have one… but, it should have limitations.
This always strikes me as an odd mentality, because I would be willing to bet they buy other games all the time without playing them.
I dislike the concept of free trials in MMO’s.
Mostly because it becomes a vehicle for the RMT/Botters to bypass the issue of account bans without having to shell out money for new accounts.
Neutered accounts for trials also have people saying “How can I possibly get a feel of the game if I cannot talk in chat channels or buy/sell on the trading post, or send mails” and so on.
In this day and age where you can watch live streams of the game for hours on end, read a billion reviews, read a facebook page (Ugh.), watch a twitter feed (Ugh.), or discuss everything to DEATH on forums and talk to friends who play to get almost 100% accurate opinion on whether you will like the game or not…
I feel that trials are obsolete for the most part.
Out of curiosity, did the original Guild Wars have a free trial? I don’t think it did.
It did, it just gave you 14 days of prophecies gameplay iirc

It did, but a few years after release.
