Apparently some people have gotten some heroic chests for logging in the game now and we tried to deduce why…

We came as far as thinking it is related to the beta portal key – so are there more people who can confirm that?

Pretty sure that’s the case.

got my key on the 3rd day. No ‘heroic chest’ for me. Maybe hasn’t gotten around to me :P

We can also confirm that the ones who got more than one key got multiple chests (2 in this case)

I am both extremely jealous (not really) and interested as to why this is happening :O

I got my first beta portal on the first day, another on Friday and my third on Saturday. No heroic chest has arrived (though I wouldn’t complain if I got one).

Not sure where you heard about people getting heroic armor chests, as far as I know you only get that with the game upgrade (I could be wrong).

I got the chest just now, but I haven’t found a Portal yet.

Anet is weird yo.

No portal for me but I got a “Welcome to Tyria” mail with a 4K influence attachment, and a “Special Items Delivery” with 2 Heroic Chests.

I’m leaving them in the mail until I know it’s not a mistake.

well scratch that. I just logged in and I did get a heroic armor chest, which is nice because I still hadn’t gotten the profane set.

The random heroic chest thing has happened long before HoT was ever mentioned.

Did an Anet GM hit the hidden “generous” button, and send out a mass amount of epic loot for free? If so, I didn’t get anything when last I logged in…

May need to log out and back in? No idea why folks are getting them, but it is super nice.

So far those who have gotten a chest that i spoke to participated in the previous beta.

I got a chest, and I was in the beta. I also got a portal key.

I participated in the stress test and got a heroic chest. No luck with the portal yet.

I got the chests also. I did the GW2hot beta but no portal key as of yet.

I got my portal stone, no chest

I suspect it is a bug. I got the Heroic chest when I logged on today and did not have a portal. I did the Stress Test Beta as well.

I did just now get a portal in the Silverwastes. The only thing I did different after trying for hours and hours over the days was to start switching maps about every half an hour. This was maybe my third switch when the portal popped after killing a smaller mordrem wolf.

yep. Almost confirmed everyone who was in the initial beta stress test I believe got one. It’s not the portal as far as I can tell.

could be wrong though, but I can confirm that people who were in stress test are definitely getting it.

I was selected for the stress test, but I couldn’t participate due to work. I did get a chest.

I did participate in the last beta but some people who got it have said they weren’t in it, so that may not be the reason either.

It would be helpful if Anet could edit the mail for these things to tell us why we’ve got it. It seems they have just a few standard ones and the message doesn’t always match the reason (for example my mini llama, which I won in the tournament of legends 2, came in a mail that said it was a replacement item).

Got a chest, didn’t get portal, did participate in the last beta. Ah, and already had the deluxe edition.

Not had a key, yet got a chest today.

I recieved mine today. No key. But ok

I just got one and never even attempted to get into either beta. Wasn’t in the Silverwastes during the entire key phase.

I did receive a chest. Also, my Beta character is now gone, been there since the first closed Beta. Maybe deleting the initial closed Beta characters is generating the Hero chests.
I did get a portal to the next Beta three days ago.

I was in the first stress test. I have gotten a portal drop. Logged in to the heroic chest.

It’s nice actually, because I bought the digital deluxe before launch, and always was jealous of people who bought it later and had the chest added as a reward.

Got a portal but no heroic chest, so no.
