Until the day before the inaugural World vs. World Season, we’re reducing the prices for moving to a new home server! Transfers to a Medium population world are free, and moving to a High population server has been discounted to just 800 gems – but only until October 17!

You can transfer worlds using the World Selection button on your character selection screen. ~RB2

So how do you tell what server is high, medium or low population?

They aren’t. I think the tag is based on accounts on server, not active population. There is no chance in hell servers like AR, FC, ET, DR are “High” let alone “Medium”.

That or it is based on accounts bound on the server. If that is the case this system is meaningless.

I may be wrong, but I’m going to guess more people are going to take the opportunity to pay 800 gems to go to a high pop server, than the people who will go to med for free.

Edit: On the other hand, some people may want to escape the lag of high pop servers, and go to med for free.

WvW is the only reason anyone transfers, logically anyway.

I’m not a server hopper… I’ll stick to Kaineng.

I would love to take advantage of this and move to a low population server but looks like all servers in NA is label High or Very High. If this is not accurate, hope Arena fix it.

So right before rewards are handed out for WvW performance everyone is given the opportunity to jump to the best WvW servers at a discount? Gotta say, not a fan of the timing for this move.

Dude, we get it. “Thou shall not criticize ArenaNet.” But if you don’t like what people have to say…if the criticisms bother you so much, wouldn’t it be better for everyone involved – yourself included – to just tune it out? In the long history of mankind, complaining about complaining has rarely resulted in anything worthwhile.

Are there any (NA) servers that are medium? Last time I used guesting, I’m pretty sure all the servers were at least High population…

I missed it by an hour!!! Been planning to transfer servers, now the med pop I wanted is high pop and it will cost me 300 more gems than before. >:( Better transfer pronto before it goes to very high.

As people have said, those classifications mean nothing. There are several servers with a lack of population in WvW and PvE. I think all those mean is accounts bound on the server, even if those players quit.

So NA doesn’t get anything for free because of funky classifications.

My only question is why is this information only on facebook..?

The thing about being on high pop servers which has enough players to have zergfests is, you have the OPTION to utilize said zergfest or not. I like options.

Will be sticking to my high pop server I’ve been on since pre.

Actually second thought I’m glad I didn’t transfer before this happened. Before when I was going to a med pop server it would have been worth it. Now that the odds of getting in to WvW on that server have been drastically reduced and as the sale goes on the queue will just get longer and longer every day…. I’m just going to stay on my server, continue to ignore WvW, and continue guesting for world events.

There are no “Medium” Population servers on NA. Only a couple high and most are “Very High” This must be a European sale

By this logic, companies/stores would never want to put stuff on sale. Some do retroactively give refunds for a short time for stuff that they put on sale, but it’s not the norm in my experience.

You should ask for a re-roll. You are far from the only one. I know people like you who deleted everything just so they can transfer for free. (Although they mostly only have one character and very little gold.)

Anet makes absolutely no sense to me. Lowering the cost of server transfers lowers the barrier of entry to tier 1 servers, something that is harmful to the game. It also lowers their profit margin reducing their profits (unless they’re expecting a higher volume of transfers to cover the difference, in which case I refer you to my first point). I simply don’t get the motivations of the people running this company.

Read again. I said Gem refund, not cash refund. Anet will not lose any actual revenue. Maybe a lost of future potential revenue. But this beats having tons of angry customers that threatens to (or really) quit the game.

Do you have any idea how many guilds transferred around in the past few weeks due to the WvW league announcement? Do you have any idea how many angry players are out there right now?

You do know you could’ve prolly farmed a couple dungeon/champs for 2 hours and got the gold right?

Wait till free trial weekend thing is done, recheck populations, as far as I know pop is based off current players on line (why pop changes thru the day) numbers would be skewed right now with the free trial players.

The fact remains that they lose money, either now or in the future. Companies run on profit. This isn’t even on the table for consideration.

I know how many Guilds have transferred. I’m on a T1 server. I know how many players are angry as well. Even so, it won’t happen. Just look around the forums and it’s pretty obvious that those who are angry and/or complaining are “the minority.”

And isn’t one of the most popular phrases on this forum “If you don’t like it, then leave”? I’ve had it used on me quite a few times.

I definitely agree with what most of the people here are saying. The NA servers are all High or Very High, and seem to be fairly inaccurate representations of the actual server populations. If all the servers are this full, then there are not nearly enough servers, or there are tons of inactive players that should not be represented in the counts.

It would be nice if ANet could clarify on this before the sale ends, but i highly doubt that will happen :p
