So I bought this a few years ago for 70 dollars, due to recent circumstances I was unable to play for a while. I recently found out there was a f2p version of the game now, how will this affect my purchase of this game?

You paid for the privilege of having the opportunity to play and experience this game for roughly three years before it ever went free-to-play. That included all the new content that got released during that time, much of which new players (whether they are free-to-play or not) will never have the pleasure of experiencing. In addition, free-to-play accounts have numerous restrictions which you are not subject to. With the game having gone free-to-play, the entire community has also benefited from an influx of more people playing the game which is a positive for pvp, wvw, and every gamer that prefers playing an MMO with other gamers. All in all, the move towards a free-to-play model was a good move for everyone involved.

In no way at all. The free version comes with heavy restrictions. You do not have to suffer from just 3 bagslots, 2 characters, no mapchat and not being able to buy or sell anything valuable at the trading post for example.

Thank you! I didn’t want to log in and not be able to do anything I wasn’t able to do originally. I had heard there was a refund type thing, (not quite sure what it was, I missed the deadline anyway.) but haven’t looked into since I know I missed the deadline.

There was a refund for those who had just purchased the core game before the announcement, but that was a long time ago.

You will be able to do everything you did before and a bit more maybe depemding on when you stopped. If you still have chara ters from before they have birthday presents coming up too.
