I just finished watching the Guild chat for Aurene (I’m never able to watch it live but I do watch it in YouTube).

In this guild chat Keavin talked about the difference between playing fetch and catch and that the souvenir quest was meant to be to let the player know you are building a relationship with the baby dragon and not just a “here I am now, see you next year” thing.

Now, for the future you can create a better player involvement for the player if you made a “play catch” daily.

This would make that point come across even more directly instead of indirectly.

I could suggest an even better idea. Force players to have to care for Aurene. If you don’t play with her, she hates you. If you don’t feed her, then she dies. Sort of like a modern day Tamagochi (for those of you from the 90’s). This would open the door to a true Living World, where your choices could actually turn her into an evil dragon in your personal story.

In GW2, Trading Post plays you!

You should think very carefully about what you are suggesting here …

So all this time Zhaitan & co just wanted a hug and someone to play catch with them? XD

On the sidenote, I don’t think I’d want to baby-sit a dragon 24/7, so no need for obligatory activities like that. Also, people have jobs and might not have the time to log in every day to feed/play with it.

Yeah that’s my problem with it. I’m at work 5 days a week and often away from home for days at a time so there’s no way I’d be able to do this. Maybe if it only counts time when you’re actually logged in (like boosters being used up) it would be ok, but I can imagine it still being annoying. It doesn’t really fit with the rest of the game which is designed around letting you choose what you do.

Also it runs into the same problem as offering other choices: they then need 3 versions of every storyline involving her, one where she likes you, one where she hates you and one where she’s dead.

A simple solution would be to release a GW2 app that you can monitor, play with, and feed Aurene on your smartphone.

Also release it as a browser mini-game so you can play at work?

Some people also actually work at their work instead of playing browser games :P

Anyway, I don’t think it would be wise to put it into the game as smth obligatory. After all it’s a fighting/adventure game not a ‘raise your cute baby dragon’ kind of game.

If there would be a high demand for smth like that, they can make a separate app/minigame with baby dragons, quaggans, skritt, chak, whatever. And it would cost people gems to unlock it (naturally). Just keep it optional.

Can confirm, US Gov let’s you play games at work

Back on topic, I like the idea of a daily with Aurene, although I wouldn’t want it to be the way Smooth Penguin suggested. I’m not able to get on every day unfortunately.

That said, we do have additional things we can do with Aurene, namely the gifts we can give her after Crack in the Ice. https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Precocious_Aurene_

thankfully anet has come right out and made it very clear they will never ever make

a app at all for this game or other wise and that is something that would be even more

useless and could even let hackers into the game as well too
