Hello.

After the last patch I’ve noticed that now there are Hellfire and Radiant boots.

I was just wondering, does anyone know if/when we will get the pants and breastplate?

In case you haven’t seen them:

Most likely in the 27/30k and 33/36k chests, but they are not in game yet.

Actions, not words.

They should release underwater Hellfire/Radiant breathers as well.

The effect is cool, but having it like… all over… too much, way too much.

No doubt the legs will cost something like 33,000 achievement points and the chest 45,000 achievement points.

It’s kinda ridiculous that from the 9k achievement points reward (the helmet), it suddenly jumps to a requirement of 21,000 achievement points for the next new piece – a whopping 12,000 AP difference. Following the original flow, it should have been boots at 12k, legs at 15k, and chest at 18k. That’s fair.

21k achievement points for just the boots alone? What a joke!

If you stick to the game, with the nature of the living story and daily/monthly achievements, you will eventually get the set. Gives something to look forward to, sure it might take a couple of years but at least when you see a set it’ll be a pretty great sight to behold.

They did it because no one has 21k ap yet, probably.

I’ve got to say, if you need 30k achievement points for the whole set, then this set will be more prestigious than any other armour in the game.

Some people never have heard something about long term goals as it seems.

I know what long term goals are, but let’s be realistic… 2+ years for the average Joe Blog player to get just the boots, IS ludicrous. I’ve been playing since the 3 day pre-launch of GW2 and I’m at almost 7.9k achievement points – and I play A LOT. A couple of my friends are hard-core players and have managed to obtain between 15-16k points, and even they haven’t been able to obtain the boots yet, so I don’t even have to imagine how insanely stupid it will be to obtain the legs, let alone the chest at this rate.

If Anet wanted to make a prestigious armor set(s?) that takes a long time to get and something that people would truly strive for, what they should have done was make ascended armor slightly harder to obtain than it is currently, but in doing so, really make it worth your time by making the graphics of it uber sweet – as an example, below is some concept art by Anet that somehow never became a reality as potential armor sets in GW2 – why it never happened completely baffles me because it’s simply stunning, and I feel they missed a great opportunity to make it something special. If perhaps the achievement armor were this good looking, I wouldn’t mind it taking 2+ years to obtain just the helm, gloves, mantle and boots, but the way it is now, I personally think it’s ridiculous. Two+ years just for ONE pair of achievement boots? One would think it’s April Fools day :-/

I think keeping this as a several year goal is a good idea. There are only two sets, which means that there isn’t much variety among those who get them. Can you imagine Lion’s Arch if even 20% of players were wearing a full set of radiant armour?

It also makes them actually special. The zenith skins are amazing, but they aren’t special because you get your choice of whichever one you want so early.

What we’re missing is a medium term goal. Zenith is short term. Hellfire/Radiant is long. A unique skin at each 10k mark might have been an idea, even just a backpiece that came in different colours for each 10k or something.

Actually, what would have been really cool would be that at every 10k (or whatever number, that’s just a round one) you get a new effect/colour for all the zenith skins you have unlocked.

@Zaoda. Those are not concepts for armorskins and not for GW2. It is GW1 concepts. Top one is Avatar of Balthazar that a dervish (profession from GW1) could turn into. Bottom one is Avatar of Grenth which is also a skill transform that dervish had. The middle one is Margonites, a hostile, evilish race that followed the now dead god Abadon in GW1 also. So there you have why they are not in GW2 as armorsets, because that was never what it was meant to be.

Now on topic. I don’t see the problem with it being that long term goal. They clearly did it because some people really are insanely close to achieveing that and they don’t want to make it retroactive again. And this way I wont have to worry about my eyes melting from the masses of radiant armor when I enter LA untill way long from now.

dont forget that after 9k you start working towards the other set (radiant or hellfire) and once you have all 3 in radiant and hellfire you start working towards the boots for both, chest and head comes after.

Those are not armors, but characters on their own. Plus it’s GW1 concept, and cannot be implemented right away due to time changes that occured in the game.

In the specific, you picked up very particular designs. Wearing a Margonite, a serve of Abaddon, or a god, is a very big deal, and it seems that they wanted to make things more realistic and less powerful compared to GW1 due to many changes, like the gods that left the world.

Radiant and hellfire are particular, but not so great: radiant is just exaggerated in its appearence, hellfire on the contrary is pretty boring. So yeah, you can farm points, but not really a good looking set.

You’ll have both radiant and hellfire helms, gloves, and shoulders before you get to 21000 AP.

I never said they were concept armors for GW2, I said

below is some concept art by Anet that somehow never became a reality as potential armor sets in GW2

I’m well aware it came from GW1, I played it after all. But these should have been armors in GW2 being as we still have the relevant ‘6 gods’ theme in GW2. It would only make sense to make god-like armor by making them ascended.

This is another good point as to how ridiculous the current system is. Obtaining BOTH sets of the radiant and hellfire mantle, helm and gloves before you just get ONE pair of boots :-/

What I would like to know is how many players are actually able to benefit from the hellfire and radiant greaves in this point in time – I’m interested because if it’s only a few players, that’s a real waste of dev time in my opinion.

Edit: Just checked the leaderboards. Not 1 single hard-core player has been able to receive them yet.

Highest EU player has 20,867 Achievement Points
Highest NA player has 20,561 Achievement Points

Just proves my point. Waste of dev time, and a waste of our time all for a pair of boots. I shudder to think how long it’s going to take for the legs and chest, that’s all I’m going to say and just leave it at that.

- Don’t you just hate it when “long term goal” is long just because devs decided to make it that way by changing one integer in the code? And that the getting there process doesn’t improve you as a person in any way. One of these days they’ll notice that not many players have these armor pieces so they add inflation to achievement points to make it more accessible.

No.

That’s the level they want. It’s their game. You don’t like it? Too bad. They likely WON’T inflate the AP if they WANT the full armor set to be uncommon or rare. Not everyone gets to have everything they want. Sorry.
