I’m not really sure why, but I always seem to blame these long and/or failed dungeon runs to Magic find equipment. Am I in the wrong? When I see some charges of “luck” from weapon sigils and boon / mf food, along with low survivability (not sure if thats even a word) and even less damage, I just lose my mind a little bit. Dungeons like CoE and some of CoF, Arah, just feel terrible as all hell while doing it.

For example, this morning while attempting a CoF run on wing 3, the survival part where you need to last x amount of minutes while an NPC opens the door to the next boss was IMPOSSIBLE to do with them. one SINGLE mob would die and we’d do our best to kite but 2-3 blows and the players were down. I know this isnt about player skill since it happens on so many runs and it all seems to be about this $#@%ing magic find.

What are people looking for in there? Are there secretly dusks dropping off silver mobs somewhere? looking for some input from others so I know if i should just choke it down or only play with a handful of other players and be boned when they decide GW2 is boring and wont be on for the day.

They should disable Magic Find in dungeons. Simple as that.

Just who the hell do you think I am!?

That’s why inspect should exist. If someone keeps dying, you look at how they play and then what gear they have. If its loaded up with MF, you know theyre terrible.

“They should disable Magic Find in dungeons. Simple as that.”

Only as long as MF is scaled up to max so that no extra from equipment would contribute anymore.

why exactly do you want magic find disabled in dungeons? how does this benefit us at all? anyone with MF gear just lost a lot of functionality, and we’ve all lost a way to make some of the dungeons much more profitable to run. i’ve run all over the first four dungeons with rare 80 MF gear, and i bet i could still handle the harder ones if i invested in exotic MF gear instead of my knight’s draconic. i always keep both sets of armor on me, and switch to the MF gear for easier fights. some of us obviously think it’s possible, so let us have the option. you don’t have to wear it if you don’t want to.

maybe i don’t understand your problem, though. are you yourself wearing it? are you just routinely asking people if they’re using MF gear if they’re underperforming? are you just playing with a group of friends whom you’re talking to about gear selection? if so many people are getting slaughtered in MF gear it’s only natural to assume such players will either regear, or maybe quit running dungeons.

also, as to why you’d want MF in dungeons, it’s the highest chest density in the game, and if you have full MF gear you should never get lower than a blue, and you will actually see rares. it adds up over time.

its almost necessary to disable it because of how important stats are in this game. the crit damage or condition damage modifier you’re missing out on in mf gear is HUGE! and most of the time people are rocking blue or green mf gear. I’ve completed dungeons succesfully in groups where we all didnt have good gear, but it was bad gear of the right TYPE, which was dps / tank / hybrid. These selfish people are grouping into dungeons hoping to be carried and its just overwhelming how often it happens in rough dungeons like CoE CoF and arah

MF is pointless in dungeons because of how few of mobs you actually. I ran it for awhile because I could afford only one set of gear when i hit 80, so i chose the money making set. I’ve seen alot of other new 80s follow the same path.

The only Magic Find I end up bringing in a dungeon is the Omnomberry Cream, but I mostly bring that for the Boon Duration since it’s the only level 80 food with Boon buffs. However, if there are other Boon-based foods with other stats on it, I’d rather bring that instead of the one with Magic Find.

@Josher: this is no argument for an inspect feature which is a great tool to ruin communities. If someone is playing subpar, what does it matter to you if he runs MF or not? He is bad, that much is obvious enough – with kittened gear or super gear. But I agree in as much as MF is a silly mechanic overall.

There is one simple truth – if you bring MF gear to dungeons, then you’re a bad player, and you should feel bad!
Anything more than a food buff for MF is a big no-no.
Want items?Go farm the 2-3 mass mob spawn events in Cursed Shore with the MF gear.
I’d say it for a fact that more than half the dungeon runners make those runs for the end reward – the 26s and 60 tokens.Cuz you can then make those tokens into 2 items to salvage for further profit.
Even with MF gear, the chance for a rare item still remains miniscule, and in return your whole party suffers because you perform subpar

I’ve cleared most of the dungeons in the game in Exp mode with groups all using MF gear. If you think MF gear is the problem then you are most likely the problem.

The dungeons in this game are all fairly easy once you know what to do, and even if you don’t you can just zerg your way to victory while naked.

It costs 20+g to get a full set of gear, I can clear everything in MF gear. Why would I waste another 20+g on another set when I simply don’t need it?

Why disable it in dungeons? i am ok with this, but anet must FIRST up the loot so MF isnt needed to get a green drop let alone a rare or exotic.
