Full Makeover Question
the item is not apart of your character’s look. how would having a full make over kit change your armor? you would need to make another character with the starter stuff you want then transmute it.
edit: you don’t need to buy the fine transmute stones from the gem store, the yellow ones you get from map completion is fine. just so you know, so you won’t waste your gem.
your not getting me, its part of your creation, im an engineer, engineers have the option of getting a backpack, the backpack is unequipable I believe. I did not chose said backpack and I would like to, thus the question at hand.
As pho said, the backpack (or other starter armor/weapon/clothing items you may get when you make a character) is not part of your character’s look. The only things you can change are hair color, hair style, face, body type, etc.

The makeover pack only has the option to change the characters physical appearance.
If there is starter items you want you can make a new character with the item you want then use a transmutation stone, the yellow one, to transmute to a low level item. You should be able to transmute it to a low level backpiece or a white blackstrap that is part of a gem store backpiece. The item may still say soulbound after transmuting but should actually be account bound. Once it’s account bound the character you want it on can pick it up out of your bank, transmutate it again and use it.
A guild mate used transmutation to change a soulbound Mad Memories from one character to another.

you can remove the backpack from your character, alter its appearance with transmutation stones, replace it with better gear. So no, it is not able to be altered with a full makeover kit as the full makeover kit does not alter equipment in the least bit.
The closest you can get to altering equipment with the full makeover kit is altering the glow color on a Sylvari, which will in some cases (I think) alter the glow of certain cultural armors. Or at least that was the intent of Anet. Not sure if that capability is still within the game or not.
