Full Worlds: When can I get in?
If its just RP, that is easy.
Even if youre on another server, you will be placed on the same PVE maps as your guild (or can move REALLY easily).
The concept of choosing a server for PVE purposes (such as RP) is a thing of the past.
If you do care about WvW – then you are better off getting your friends to move to a less populated servers. The bandwagon servers will be full 90% of the time and if any friends want to join in the future, you will continue to have this issue over and over (not to mention that you will help to spread the WvW population out a bit more ).
I really have no understanding of how the worlds/servers work in GW2. I only got the game last night and haven’t even created a character, so please bear with me. lol.
So, even if I were to create a character on a different world, I would be able to see and play with everyone on Tarnished Coast, not just the people I have friended?
IMO the whole concept of servers is a bad idea from the start, districts are a better solution because you can simply change district or join up in a less populated district without server problems.
in WvW they should’ve made it like AB (but with 3 factions), you join a faction and you fight for it, simple.
It really does not matter which Home World you choose, except for WvW. You are placed in a map with others based on heuristics. There are no maps belonging to separate Worlds anymore. You can read more about it here, in the Wiki:

Welcome to Tyria, and good luck!

Yes, that is very much true.
The only thing you could not do with them is the massive WvW PvP. You would have to do that with whichever server you did choose.
TC is quite high in the current WvW season (a real chance to win NA), so I wouldn’t think any openings are going to happen until after the WvW season is over.
Unless you are wanting to WvW there is NO reason you must be on TC now that Guild span servers. If you really just want to RP with your friend you can be on virtually any NA server and do so.
BTW, a server is FULL if the number of accounts associated with it are at maximum capacity….it has nothing to do with the current number of players logged into it. An account has to move (or be removed) from the Server for space to become available (and then you have to beat all the other players attempting to transfer to it).
Fate is just the weight of circumstances
That’s the way that lady luck dances
Essentially, all players on all servers will end up on the same PVE map assuming it’s not yet full. And even if the map is full and the game puts you on another instance of the map, you can just party him and join him. This applies to all open world PVE maps. In case of dungeons, it doesn’t even matter since you will get a pop up to join him.
The only time world/server matters is with WvW. You cannot join your friend on WvW on their current matchup against BG and SoS.
Thank you all so much. It makes so much more sense. WvW or PVP really isn’t my thing, I was just wanting to mingle with all the RPers in the cities and such and do some leveling with a friend. So, so long as I can do that and what not, I will be super happy.
