Sometimes when playing a game, it’s good to forget your goals of hitting the next level or completing a map to just do something fun.

One night while going up to get a vista, I happened upon another player who was trying to reach the same vista. I showed him how to reach the top. Once we were up there, we started doing celebration dances and cheers, calling down to every player who passed by.

It was silly, but it was fun.

What have you done in the game that’s been fun?

Standing up on a really high cliff, waiting for someone to walk by down below, so I can jump and land on their head.

I get a good laugh, and they get XP for raising me! win-win

My top 10 moments would have to be:

1: Diving off of the statue in Divinity’s Reach over and over again. Pretty amusing.

2: Carefully moving over the edge of the statue in DR so that it looks like I’m standing on air, and then doing /dance. Then secretly laughing as people try to emulate this and fall to their death. xD

3: Stalking newbs and helping them out.

4: Placing banners around starter zones that grant karma, exp and MF boosts.

5: Navigating hard to reach areas like mountain terrain or rooftops in DR.

6: Hunting Stragglers in WvW.

7: Placing down those fun chests from the gem store.

8: Having an entire party start dancing in a dungeon.

9: Forming a party with members from another server in WvW. (Truces ftw!)

10: Having a dance party in WvW with players from other servers.

One of my best moments was doing a jumping puzzle-
Player: i just finished the puzzle, do you need help?
Me: no I think I’m okay, I just keep falling because I really suck at these
Player: okay, we’ll I’m coming to help you anyways.
I didn’t even know this person, it was so awesome!

Also playing “where’s so and so” with my gullies. Out guild master would hide somewhere on a map and give us all clues where to find him, the first one there got 1 gold and then we would wait for everyone else to show up and take a group picture. SO fun.

Pretty much any META event… And my personal story from level 50-60 was so epic, I was staring at the screen with my mouth open half the time!

I was fighting centaurs in one of their camps. I did so alone and while being
routinely pummeled by artillery. Eventually, after defeating a handful of them and
their wargs, I see a big wooden construction. I walk in what was the door and realize it’s an arena! Then I spot a big beast, lurking in a shed-like corner. It hasn’t attacked me yet, but I’m still fighting a centaur which followed me in. I end up killing said centaur, but then realize I’ve caught the attention of the aforementioned beast. This beast, was 10x the size of a normal warg and looked quite terrifying. I look towards where I came in and I see a centaur. But he didn’t come in! No, instead, he activated some gate mechanism that barred the door. Trapped! And now under attack by this huge beast. I couldn’t do anything besides run around, switching between defensive abilities and nearly dying. I tried to destroy the door, but didn’t have enough time before the beast was upon me. Then suddenly, I see someone else! And soon 3 people came to my aid and we defeated the beast together, after they broke up the door. Was so lovely seeing someone else ! Epic !

I got cussed out by a dead guy demanding to be revived. So I trolled him for half an hour while dancing on his dead body.

Too bad my thread with the screenshots got deleted, most likely due to the bad language in the screenies.

Seeing my 1st dragon, unlike some i made sure to not watch/read anything related to them, so i had no idea what they looked like, the zones they appeared in or the location within the zone.

So i was just wandering around a zone doing some DE/Hearts and all of a sudden a ROAR!!!, next thing i know a dragon lands right beside me and i was like “OMG!!!” – it was great.

It’s the same thing i’m doing with the halloween event, i have no idea about any of it and am avoiding all things about it.

Most of them involve jumping to my death.

Jumped off the edge or a rock into the water. Didnt realize that the water was only an inch deep. The death pose was epic and I dug in head first with my rear sticking up in the air. The guy that rezed me got a good chuckle too.

Jumped off a rock trying to hit the water. Hit another rock on the way down, and then another, and another… and another. ( think plinco from the Price is Right ) only to find the miniscule sandbar in the water…and die.

Chasing people over a cliff edge in WvW to get the kill.

Actually taking the teleport out of CoE. I was like Holy kittens this is a long fall. And then I hit a rock and died. (just kidding, I didn’t hit a rock, but I feel like I should have)

The LA jump puzzle. I actually hit the water. Shame I was already dead when I landed. I laugh becasue I actually hit the water and not a rock or shallow in the water.

So last night, I was just doing my final map exploration and hunting down the last skill point. Happened to be a cave with a tricky entrance, and I go bumbling into a Veteran Skelk. Managed that encounter adequately but I don’t see the Skill. A little hunting and I find it! yay! Oh, oops, now there is a Veteran Spider-L60! (Why, oh why do I bumble into these predicaments) I give a valiant try, but go down, alas. Now I am in the middle of nowhere, in the back of behind, probably on an empty map sigh. I figure I’ll give a shout out to any heroic explorer and see if I can get a rescue. Normally I would be too shy, but I figure, what the heck. One explorer tells me Koss is drinking and we figure Gwen is busy writing love songs (just some fun banter). So I eventually rez back to a few waypoints away, as the nearest is contested (of course). Here’s the most fun part: As I arrive back at the cave, several other explorers join me and we take on the big bad Veterans and win the day! I am sorry to say that the Heroes melted into the night before I could get my mind together to get their names. Seems like a small thing, but ’twas a wonderful and fun experience.

Finding hidden areas with lots of vegetables. No seriously I just love attention do mundane details like Asuran scholars raising crops high above the ground away from pests.

Feeding the chickens never gets old for me either. If there’s a chance to do complete heart events that don’t directly involve fighting then I’m all for it.

Me and my gf trying to find a POI.

Me: “I think there is a cave here, the dot is in the mountain”
Her: “Let’s look for it”
<5 minutes later>
Me: “What the hell there is no way to get in!”
Her: “Perhaps from underwater?”
Me: “Or maybe there is another cavern that leads here through the path”
Her: “Ok let’s look there maybe we’ll fi-”
Me: “What?”
Her: “Turn back -_-”

And then we see this GIANT cave entrance that could fit 2 trucks in it right behind our backs.

We exploded in laughter.

Earlier tonight while trying to reach a vista, I happened upon a Champion Skelk, who disappeared from view as he leaped to attack me.

Being brave and fearless, I immediately shrieked like a little girl and fell down a cliff to my death. Someone revived me, and a bunch of us went up the hill and put an end to that foul beast.

Another time, while fighting a Champion Troll, I wasn’t paying attention to my positioning. Being a ranger, I have several sword attacks that cause me to leap around back and forth to help dodge attacks.

The Champion troll goes to strike me, so I masterfully use my ability to leap straight backwards…only to discover that a mighty cliff drop is waiting for me, and I fall to my death. True story.

I have the worst luck with cliffs, it seems.

I got a repair orb from one of my dailies. So, I scaled down the walls of Rata Sum, jumped off, got back up, and took another tour of the Polymock Arena. I managed to get on top of each of the arena cubes in one life before I died trying to get from one to the other.

A bunch of us were just hanging out in LA and decided to use tonics to become animals. And then we spazz out on afk characters. Just imagine a gang of animals vibrating all over an afk character. It was a very silly sight.

I have had so many OMG that was fun moments, I don’t think I could remember them all much less list them lol.

I guess for me, right now, I’d have to pick my 2nd WvW experience.
I don’t generally PvP. I’ve never been great at it, I guess average would be a good description lol. First time I went in I went with some guildies, and I just wandered around following like a lost puppy, not knowing what to do.

The 2nd time, that was the ticket. I went in alone, ended up on a map I hadn’t been on/didn’t recognize. I set off into the sunset and quickly got myself obliterated by a zerg group of opponents. After about 45 minutes of this I ran into a group of enemies, and tried to kill them, and they just started dying. It was like an AH-HA moment. I think I had 8 kills (I had 0 on my monthly achieves up till then) before they finally annihilated me. It was a HUGE rush, and entirely unexpected. I hold my own now, but I haven’t had another experience like that.

On the cliffs post above: I totally understand lol. I had a funny one where me and 2 others were killing a champ. I was using a rifle (engineer) and used the knock back skill, which ended up kicking me off the cliff. I didn’t die, and I had a turret that was fighting. I was scared to detonate my turrets because I knew the 2 other people would like the help, but I stayed in combat mode, and had to run all the way around the mountain range and back through the cave to get back up, since I couldn’t teleport!

I seem to wind up having great experiences with jumping puzzles.

The shark’s cave in LA – my first time through not knowing anything at all – I wound up teaming up with this random Charr and we stumbled through it all together. So much fun! Getting lost in the maze, navigating the traps, and the pitch black room I helped her get across because I had a torch equipped (and neither of us thought to turn up our gamma lol).

Just a few days ago my spouse and I were in Straights of Devastation doing the vista in the ranger pet cave and we ended up staying about an hour because so many people were dying by missing their jump! One of us stayed at the bottom to rez fallers, the other climbed up and tried to show people how to jump across the branches to nab the vista.

I think I may make a concerted effort to spend some time in the lowbie areas with my 80s.

This thread is pretty cool.

My favorite is the unleashing the Champion Troll in Clayent Falls at the same time the Harpy and Bandit event is going on.
Total chaos of the clash of baddies and bots getting wiped is hilarious, and then the players swoop in and save the day.

The shark’s cave was definitely a lot of fun. Didn’t expect that. For my wife and I, it turned a “let’s grab this vista” moment into a “let’s do this fun thing for an hour that we totally didn’t see coming” and ended up as a “this has been totally worth the time” thing. Got to love moments like that.
