Ok so I am really excited for LS3 and future expansions. Currently I am enjoying the heck out of the raids too and cannot wait to see what the raid team comes up with next.

Perhaps my only pet peeve right now with the game are the adventures. More directly the way that collections and mastery points are locked behind them thus making them a requirement rather than optional. Now, if I am honest, I despise every single one of them I’ve played. Every one. There was not ONE that I had any inclination to want to do again once I salvaged a silver level or got the collection item I needed. I was certainly not going to grind them to get gold. I have given up on those particular mastery points.

By all means offer chests and other rewards for doing them so that other players who like them can still get a reward or progression from it. But please, PLEASE do not lock future mastery points or collection items behind them. For me they are not fun, they are a supreme chore and at times can be rage inducing.

That is all. Other than that Roll on LS3!

Yep, adventures suck.

What adventures need, if anything, is some kind of decent competitive reward to encourage the ones who like them, like myself, to play them more often.
Mastery points and collection requeriments can go away as far as I’m concerned. They offer no replayability for those who like adventures and are nothing but annoying, even painful, for those who dislike them.

I don’t like adventures in this sort of game because:

  • Your profession doesn’t matter.
  • Your masteries don’t matter.
  • Your skill in the rest of the game doesn’t matter.

I think a few activities and games can be a fun distraction; I don’t like that they are nearly mandatory for masteries and collections. I realize a lot of people love them. Then again, a lot of people love SAB, which also sits alone from the rest of the game (although at least: it’s not integrated into collections and masteries unrelated to SAB).

tl;dr I’m okay if ANet never adds new adventures and leaves the old ones alone.

sanctum scramble, ley line run are extremely fun adventures where i got gold from a couple of tries initially

on the wings of gold and salvage pit are so easy even casuals can get gold there easily

dont get all the hate for adventures, there are some stupid ones like the floor is lava and masks of the fallen but not all of them are bad

I don’t like adventures in this sort of game because:

  • Your profession doesn’t matter.
  • Your masteries don’t matter.
  • Your skill in the rest of the game doesn’t matter.

You forgot;

  • Your ping really matters, therefore
  • Your physical location on the earth matters

If adventures were instanced and client side, I think a lot of these type issues could be resolved, but I would literally never ever have played one unless the specialisation collections required it. Even then, I had to loan my account to a trusted friend to complete a couple of them because the unstable latency made a couple of them literally impossible for me to complete. Same way gliding to anything in HoT was impossible until gliding was made client side.

I love adventures and I hope that they add some more. Many were fun to learn. I definitely hope that they add more rewards or something to encourage you to do them after you’ve gotten the mastery points and collection items.

I hated most of the adventures, and have never done them again after getting the relevant mastery points. Combination of my terrible ping, wonky controls in too many of them, and the fact that I’m no good at racing games in general (sooo many racing adventures! Aaargh!!!)

Mini-games are just fine as a concept — I just hated the fact that I felt compelled to play each and every one for the mastery points, since there are a limited number of mastery points in HoT, and I would be putting myself at a disadvantage there if I didn’t.

So yeah, they were probably the most painful experience in HoT for me.
