So with the image of what we can only assume is a staff wielding thief its pretty clear at this point that rifles and pistols are out of the HoT. I`m curious to what Anet plans to do with Firearm type weapons. Will they just slowly continue dropping support for them. I find it hard to believe that they could fall any lower other than straight up pulling them out of the game. do they simply have a hard time coming up with ideas for weapon abilities. I honestly don`t know. Does anyone else have any thoughts on our disappearing firearms because as the proud owner of a predator I find the whole situation very disheartening.

They wont be dropping out of the game at all. Why would they? They are just another form of bows if you think about it except they go “pew pew”.

I am sure Anet has stated before that they would like all classes to get all weapons within time and that this would happen BEFORE any new weapon types would come into the game.

I am not sure why they were left out for the first set of elite specs but don’t worry they will come again sooner or later.

What I do wonder about tho is that since warrior is the class that has access to the most of the weapons. What will they do when they run out of weapons to give to warriors for elite specs when they will still be giving the other classes what they don’t have yet? Maybe then will be when they start rolling in new weapons.

Since when did this business of being a hero become being a business?

As of HoT, warriors don’t have access to shortbow, staff, scepter, focus, daggers or pistols (both of which come in main-hand/off-hand varieties). That leaves room for Anet to do eight new specs for warrior without repeating a weapon. I’m optimistic, but I sincerely doubt it will come to that. I can see off-hand dagger, off-hand pistol, shortbow and maybe melee staff before they switch to a new combat mechanic (like unarmed) or move on to GW3.

Thinking on it they could add a new warrior elite spec with one of it’s current weapons. It might mean changing a few of the specs in some of the available lines but it shouldn’t be much of a problem.

Maybe they will come up with unique ways of using the existing weapons?

For example, we have a sword and a greatsword. We do not have a hand-and-a-half sword (pretty much a weapon that can be either). Maybe not the best example as you could always do a GS/S&whatever combo, but you get the idea. What if traditionally 2-handed weapons (like rifles) would still be two-handed if you equip as normal but 1-handed (with reduced effectiveness) if you use off-hand for them?

Would be nice if they fixed Thief’s PP. Don’t need a Rifle when we can’t even use what we already got. How much longer do I really have to wait?
