I wonder what Anet has in store for GW2 with all the other currently unexplorable zones: Ring of Fire, Crystal Desert/Scavengers Causeway, Deldrimor Front, Isles of Janthir, Blazeridge Mountains, Blood Legion Homelands, Far Shiverpeaks, Maguuma Wastes, Woodland Cascades, Magus Falls, Dominion of Wind, Tarnished Coast. am i forgetting any other areas?

But I imagine they’ve had to have been talking about it at least. And it’s fine that something won’t happen anytime soon because it’s a lot. But maybe we could expect one, maybe two sometime in 2014, or if they’re just focused on the Living Story (for the most part) that’s fine too. I’m just curious about like 50% of the map that’s yet to be explored

Do you honestly think, being a reasonable man, that this game has a chance of suriving ( i.e. being successful in terms of active users ) for one more year without something as big as a new area that you mention? The answer is more than obvious: no.

So yes, they have to introduce something big.

The question is, when exactly in 2014.

Three 80-lvl Rangers. Why? ‘Cos they’re that cool.

They need to do something big indeed. Right now you can finish all PvE content with 1 month if you are a hardcore player, several months if you are casual, including dungeon farms. Beyond this the only relevant end game is organized WvW, which is currently plagued by coverage gaps and pupulation imbalances.

There are many things a-net needs to do and can do to retain active player base, but I don’t think a new area/map is an answer because look at South Sun.

I would like to see another permament brand new dungeon in game, complete with 4 exp paths. New properly scaling dynamic events, such as Teq 2.0, but instanced and doable with a group of 20-80 players. Another words raids.

On WvW obviously address coverage gaps and population imbalances to eliminate pre-determined match results. The new map may take things in appropriate direction by eliminating PPT, but without addressing the core issues nothing they add will make a difference and prevent server stacking and server decline of the “not stacked” servers.

Also, currently the risk vs. effort vs. reward system is extremely flawed across the whole game. Take Aetherblade path in TA for example. No one runs it anymore after they completed their meta because the rewards are not worth the time and effort it takes to do so.
