Guild Wars 2

Colin mentioned that future precursor attainment will be tied to completing collections. I seriously hope Anet will be taking the route of an epic scavenger hunt akin to the mini Black Moa chick quest in Guild Wars 1. I had a blast doing that in Guild Wars 1 and it seems a perfect fit in Guild Wars 2. Make it difficult, make it a challenge, make it a “grind”, but also make it attainable without the requirement of RNG drops. Would rather collect 10,000 Globs of Globby Goo and know I’m still making progress toward my goal then be forced to camp an event in hopes of a 0.000001% chance at it.

And while we’re on the subject, where is my mini Black Moa chick in GW2, Anet? What gives? :P

I would assume that the whole deal with Mawdrey was a test-run for the new precursor system. So will most likely be something along those lines.

I had pretty much always figured that the Mawdrey quest was essentially a test run for precursor hunts. I hope I’m right.

It will most likely be

• Time gated
• Account bound for most of the stuff
• Still somewhat bound by RNG (but nowhere near the level of gettting a pre now)
• Possibly almost as tedious as getting one now via gold grinding

As a whole I do not mind any of this AS LONG as it does not actually get to the same place as this " * Possibly almost as tedious as getting one now via gold grinding"…

As long as its not crafting 100000 times of 200 different things I am ok with that.

The moa thing from gw1 was a bit easy though.

Both Mawdrey and the Luminescent armor seems like test runs for precursor crafting to me.

One that didn’t utilize the collections, and one that did.

Hopefully it’ll end up being somewhere in between the two. Luminescent was boring and simple, but Mawdrey’s tedious with all the time gating.
