GAME BREAKING: Remove champions Coiled Watch
It’s not hard to complete the event. Just solo the boss (and lure him into the zerg ) while they kill the champs.
“…let us eat and drink, for tomorrow we shall die;.”
there is no boss, problem is zerg moves to the sides and let vanir conquer the point so it resets faster for them to keep farming
Sounds event breaking, not game breaking….
You need to learn what game breaking means.

I would say that if you cant complete the personal story, its game breaking.

100% this – was just going to suggest this after the new surge of Coil complaints.
All the complainers need to take a step back and undo the twist…

Wait until AFTER Claw of Jormag is up at primetime THEN go to the map – you will get an overflow map with few farmers…then go click on the totem. I had zero issues on 2 accounts…
In what way does this activity break the game? While I am sure if they feel a need to it will be fixed, I don’t understand this overly dramatic thread title, it’s like some little girl got her panties on fire.
smack..Wut?…smack…smack…

If Coiled watch succeeds, just go kill another of the champs in FGS.

There are many map instances, if you wish to do the event to completion and the map you are on is being farmed, change instances. There are so few ways to earn gold in this game, so why remove one of the few remaining efficient means. I would think Anet would enjoy the increased sales of bonfires and boosters that countless people buy for this farming as well.

What about those 3 corrupt something or other? Kill them and win. the are not that hard. I’ve done on my ele, guard, and war.
“…let us eat and drink, for tomorrow we shall die;.”
You can’t kill them solo, if they scale up to match 50+ players.
Another problem regarding GW2:
GW2 is not designed for farming (Especially not 1-spot-farming), you’re supposed to move around the world of Tyria.
I rarely do PvP or Hard PvE, unless it’s organized.

I’ve done with 20+ people around. Quite honestly I didn’t it was that great of a farm. I much prefer doing the event trains in orr or even dry top.
“…let us eat and drink, for tomorrow we shall die;.”
The event is scaled upwards as more and more people join the farm so scale the event back down each time the event fails. After two or 3 failures in a row, Champions will no longer spawn forcing the farmers to HAVE to complete the event in order for it to reset.
Just make it that upon failure of any of the events in the chain, it takes 15 min for it to start over.
15mins.. nah 30mins.. … failure must have consequence even if it’s failure under legitimate circumstances.

That’s further on in the event chain and as others said it’s not too hard a fight solo or small group…. the hard part is getting to that stage.. the failtrain tries to ensure the first event doesn’t complete so they can refarm it endlessly.. thus it is both event breaking and game breaking imo.

What if i told you it didn’t prevent personal story completion.

30 minutes is a little too long I think. That’s pushing into the territory of punishing people who are doing it legit and failing.

It would still prevent Living Story completion.

cough just ban the player cough
Currently playing Heart of Thorns.
The event obviously is being exploited for scaling mechanics. It’ll be fixed when halloween comes else when november updates come.
Just report it through the ingame bug report, and they should take care of it if you tick the exploit box.
Enjoy it while you can, if you find that enjoyable.
I’m still waiting until the spawns zerg the players instead.

They must remove drops from event enemies like they did with story.
Move the drops to the end of the event, on success. You get a success panel, and when you click the success message with the gold coin and karma, you also get a series of loot bags that are affected by MF based on the event (events with waves of enemies would have more) and a 1-2 champion loot bags if the event had champions.
Fail, you just get the usual exp and coin from faiming. Win, you get loot.
This way those that purposedlygo around with berserker builds to tag more, kill more, and hog drops will not take away stuff from others that were focusing on event objectives.
Would indeed be a good idea to have X loot bags per scaled up events. (Just dont go too crazy numbers, zerging is already too crazy in this game.) And stick to Elites unless the location/event/lore asks for a specific champion to spawn.

I have to agree that 30 min would be pushing it.
Another solution would be to move the defend event to occur outside of the event chain and have it be like the following:.
- Drive the Sons of Svanir from Coiled Watch
- Escort the explosives-laden dolyaks to the Barrowstead
- Destroy the totem foci to stop the Svanir corruption ritual
- Defeat the Dragon shamans to destroy their totem before Svanir reinforcements arrive
Upon driving the Sons of Svanir from Coiled Watch, you activate an NPC to start the escort. You then proceed on normally through the rest of the above event chain. If you fail any event from the escort on, you must start over at the beginning of the dolyak escort. This has a 5 minute cool down upon failure of any event in the chain.
If the event chain succeeds, there’s a 5 minute cool down before the escort can be started back up. However, you can have it so that the following event:
- Defend Coiled Watch (72)
occurs randomly after the event chain’s success or failure. Failure of this defend event will go right into the first event where you need to clear the Sons of Svanir from Coiled Watch after a 5 minute cool down.
Cool downs can be modified between 5-10 minutes but longer really isn’t necessary.
The dolyak escort event doesn’t offer a lot of worthwhile mobs or champs. It’s also slow to complete. This prevents players from trying to fail the Barrowstead events on purpose to farm them repeatedly. The 5 minute cool down slows it down further.
Moving the defend Coiled Watch event to occur randomly prevents players from purposely failing it to do the first two events of the current chain infinitely with almost no cool down.

The OP did actually suggest one of the better solutions. Reduce the number of champions spawning when the event scales up and have more elites instead. This event should keep a quick repeat time and not leave players waiting around to do the Living Story chain. The farmers will be unhappy of course but … so what?
They must remove drops from event enemies like they did with story.

While I think this is a good idea, I can imagine the kitten storm on this forum were it to be implemented.
The core of the problem is that the rewards for failure are greater than the rewards for success. Because failing means the event will repeat quicker.
So the simplest way to end the problem would be to change the timer so that the wait time until a restart after a failure is the same, or longer, than the time till restart after a success.
Please do an isntant hotfix and remove champions spawning in coiled watch, atm all the Frostgorge maps are being farmed there and the event always fails so they can farm it faster so this is a GAME BREAKING situation which doesnt allow to advance the story quest
That happened to me last week, I was going to complete a living story at Coiled watch. As I was enjoying fighting Svanirs, the message suddenly said we failed the event. One player blamed me for trying to complete the event. I go, “Huh? I was trying to complete the living story.” He said that they are farming and wanted the event to fail so he can get some loots. I had no idea they were farming at Coiled Watch.
Feeling hurt by their comments, I logged off and didn’t play for couple of days. After couple of days, I went back to play at Coiled Watch again and found out they are not farming for loots at the time. I can finally play the rest of living story.
I hate that when farmers get so mad at me for trying to complete the event when they were trying to farm for loots, I get upset about it and log off for few days later. Next time, if I see group of players playing some events, I will ask the if they are farming or not.
I hate farmers.
