GVG, Yes or Not?
there is any possibility to know if there will be GVG on this game, and if it’s yes, when?
Thanks Arenanet
heck, guild anything. not counting bounties. guild hall, guild fishing poles, guild potatoes…guilds are no where near emphasized enough for a game title Guild Wars 2
As true as Odin’s spear flies,
There is nowhere to hide.
They once said that WvW is what they wanted GvG to originally be, but it wasn’t feasible then. As for actually adding in a GvG game type, like SPvP, I wouldn’t count on it. There might be similar maps added to SPvP however, where tournament and custom arenas can be used for guilds to duel.
They want to limit how many different game formats there are since with GW1, they found that too many options split up the player base and made it difficult to get in to.
I don’t care for GvG one way or the other, but I do find it odd that they’ve yet to implement it in the game. The only think I can think of – and call me cynical – is they’re using Structured PvP to test a system wherein they can charge people for GvG tournaments.
but if they want, they can, because they can make a connection between wvwvw and gvg, for make a sense to wvwvw and put an awesome pvp modality.
For exemple:
If i want play a GVG match, i have to claim a tower, or i need to have enough influence point, and if my server is winning, i have bonus in gvg
no?
Everybody in PvP/WvW (and not only) playerbase wants them.
Except Anet.
Because it would be like admitting their current pvp is crap instead of esport.
So, not going to happen anytime soon probably.
Most used: Guard/Mes/War/Nec/Ele.
Yes, i use 5 chars at time. Because REASONS.
A lot of people don’t know about this yet, but there is an organization coordinating GvG matches along with Leaderboards to track scores.

Yea, but isn’t the same,
my guild is already registered, but we want a realy gvg modality , not Fac-Simil,
arenanet can make only 1 Arena in the border, where guild can go in vs other guild, without pug around that interfere with we or the enemy,
Simple Arena, like the istance of Jumping Puzzle present in WvWvW.

I really hate seeing this type of thing. The list of things that the community is having to do because Anet isn’t adding it to the game is getting too high! Anet needs to add these to the game, and if they plan to, they should let us know their intentions.

I even saw a suggestion on gw2guru that says to buy a custom pvp server to use as a guildhall.

I don’t see that panning out then. People will just keep doing what they’re doing now, taking up space on WvWvW maps for fight clubs.
come on arenanet , give to us the answers
Won’t happen.
Look at how pvp evolved in gw2. WvW and spvp – both “casual” pvp, you get in, get some kills, capture a keep in a 50man zerg, or win a round, and get off, ultra casual.
Only exception are maybe the tournies, but even them are just reuse of content that was already in place.
GvG would require guild halls, and a lot of work in the mechanics ( hell, gvg in gw1 was still getting changes and development 4 years after release, with new mechanics, npc repositioning etc ) and that would appeal to a niche of hardcore pvpers that apparently gw2 has no intention to cover (judging by the trend)
Also, take a look at gw2 team combat, compared to gw1:
In the first game, was all about having a plan. Picking your guild hall, picking the build on each member, reasoning on how you want to win, and which split tactics could be used and when. Then combat was all about positioning, keeping your monks outside of your enemy midline, your interruptors on the enemy casters, using your midline to cc the wars on your monks, using your wars to push and put pressure on the enemy team while preparing a perfectly coordinated spike.
Maybe i’m wrong, but it’s very hard for me to imagine that happening in gw2. There is not enough depth and class interaction, only getting boons and clearing boons, with the occasional revive. Everything would just turn a in mess, 16 ppl running around in a big brawl with the occasional coordinated spike.
Maybe i’m being pessimistic, or blind. But i gvg’ed for 3 years and half (with few peeks in top 100 here and there), bought this game at release with hopes of gvg getting implemented as soon as possible….but now, after 1 year, i can kinda see WHY it isn’t there, and we’ll probably never get it…
…And i’ve never hoped more to be proven wrong.

There are a lot of server in the Mist Server Browser that contain up to 8 players, adding the GvG with more 4 player is not so different, IMHO.
GvG mode was so funny in GW1, many player want it in GW2
If there was GvG, and monthly tournaments and the like, I’d probably still be playing. This, more than anything else, really turned me away from GW2. The PvP is a joke (and don’t EVEN say WvW is PvP – it’s not PvP any more than AB or FA/JQ. It’s more PvPvE).
GW was well known for it’s great PvP. No clue why it took such a backseat in GW2. I guess so they could just sell gems. I don’t think they really cared about making a truly good game.
Guild Wars in Guild Wars2?
Nah, makes too much sense.
ANET probably wants to balance their current gamemode before they create another one.
To their credit, I think they made the right decision. If they’re gonna do GvG, they need to do it right, and the “normal” PvP at the moment still needs more polish first.
Really should be in imo, for the games title and because it would be a lot of fun.

It’s OK, these guys use the acronym GvG. But what they’re doing is nothing like GvG.
Yeah… currently, GvG would not work on my server. There are the few strong guilds which have 500 members, I think there are only about four 500 member guilds on my server, and then there are the weak guilds that have less than 200 members, which is the rest of the guilds. My guild would probably destroy everyone’s guild because we have all level 80 members – so that’s not fair at all.

you sir won the internet! you get a cookie from me
as for me I already gave up…I wont wait for gvg or guild halls. I deleted the game.
If they would do this, I might return to the game again. I miss needing coordinated teamplay in GW2.

You haven’t played GVG on Guild Wars 1?
Both Guilds field 8 players and battle it out on a map, capture points and run flags for morale boosts and finally to kill guild lord.
Your form of said GVG belongs to other grinders’ mmo.
“ANET needs to make defending in WVW more rewarding!”
If GvG existed no one would WvW, so no.

You kidding? AB and JQ/FA lived well right along with GvG. WvW would be fine. Having GvG would probably attract a lot of players who don’t play GW2 because the sPvP is lame. It’s a kitten shame they didn’t have it ready at launch. It’s too late, now, for GvG to ever be anything great like it could have been had it been there from the beginning.
I think ArenaNet have sealed their reputation for GW2 mediocrity by now, and GW2 will never be the great PvP game that GW is. I think, almost a year into it, this game still isn’t ready, and they’ve put no real effort into interesting PvP at all.

Comparing AB and JQ/FA with WvW is… I don’t have the words. How exactly is GvG going to attract people who don’t like sPVP? Care to elaborate “how great GvG could’ve been?” You love just posting empty words without any meaning.

There is no WvW in GW. AB and JQ/FA are the next closest thing.
Could’ve been = what it was like in GW. Something the PvP community revolved around, and interested lots of others, even if they didn’t participate in the ladder itself.
Lay off the snark, mate. We’re having a conversation and sharing opinions. The only people I’m criticizing here are ArenaNet, not you. Don’t like what I have to say? Disagree politely, or not at all.

I know, but they are completely different. Also, AB and JQ/FA came out after GvG, not before.

And still you don’t answer how this “GvG” of yours would work in Guild Wars 2. Any actual ideas about it?
It’s not particularly my cuppa, but there does seem to be a demand for it in WvW circles. Perhaps the custom arenas are a step towards this?

And i tough WvW would turn into a “Mist continent” were guilds get their castles to control resources, but its just a mixture of GW1 Alliance battle and Starcraft zergfest.
Yet they didnt add guild stuff as GvG, the “pseudo” guild distric wich i expect to be awfull implemented (lets hope im wrong) , and are adding snow man finishers…

Last time I looked PvP translates to player vs. player. That makes AB, JQ and WvW a form of PvP (and keg brawl too for that matter).
