Out of curiosity, does anyone know how much longer ANet will continue supporting GW1?

I go in from time to time and find it pretty well populated, but, I don’t think they do anything more than to make sure the servers stay up.

It is on maintenance mode. It is unlikely to be shut off as a result

Gwen Chan is stuck in GW1. This is when I learned that farming stuff up is ultimately pointless. Even if the server is up, it don’t mean anything if I’m not logged into it.

As long as it’s not costing them more than the money needed to maintain it as is. I don’t think they’re even fixing bugs. Over time the game will probably start breaking and when enough people leave, they’ll turn off the lights.

It’s a shame. It’s a great game and if they didn’t want to do more with it they could have sold it to a group of people who were willing to take it on in exchange for maybe a subscription fee/cash shop purchases income.

ANet has said they’ll maintain the servers for as long as people continue to play the game. It costs them relatively little, since they don’t “support” the game in any meaningful way: no tech support, no new updates, the only bug fixes address exploits.
