I don’t expect much from Arena net and it’s not my fault that GW1 made person as I am.
I got used to always improve my build, and set up my own thing to break meta.
There is no such thing :/

My only request is to expend weapon + utility skills, bring diversity to the game please.

Wish I could get back to GW1.. PvP-GvG. It feels like we are outcasted, not desired or rewarded..

If you like GW1 so much you can go play it. ANet never said they were making a second GW1, and if that’s what you expected to happen, it is your fault for setting your expectations far outside the reality of the game.

How about expanding your search skills to find the ten threads about this that already exist. AND instead of creating a new practically incoherent topic with no real suggestion, you post in one of those other aforementioned threads?

I’ve never said any suggestion, because they don’t need my suggestion, they already know, that weapon sets could be expended to improve our gaming experience.

And I have no lust to search and add to the thread that already was
a) closed, or pushed to the dark
b)And if all would add only to existing ones, there would be 5 treads over all.
c) Your arrogance is the only incoherent thing here you didnt even try to add anything to conversation.
d)This is general discussion, so every one can drop an old good time, topic in here.

I never said i’ve expected this
Never actually expected GW1 to be GW2
I said it would be nice, do you want to play this game for ever with 5 weapon skills?
Why do people like you only talk about fault and something like that, so many kitten people on this forums oh lol..

ANet never said they were making a second GW1…

Actually:

Guild Wars 2 takes everything you love about Guild Wars 1 and puts it into a persistent world that’s got more active combat, a fully-branching, personalized storyline, a new event system to get people playing together, and still no monthly fees.”

So, what would you add?

In order to expand options for a given profession, the new options would have to allow access to something the profession cannot do (e.g., giving Necro more group support buffs). Adding different ways to do the same things the professions can already do would just be skill bloat. There are already complaints that the professions are too similar. Giving all the professions equal access to all mechanics would reduce what cross-profession diversity that does exist.

So what about new buffs (i.e., that do not already exist)? What is lacking? What would you add that wouldn’t just be a copy of what already exists?

Whoa guys put the brakes on. Skill diversity is good, if anet would spend some time working on branching pre-existing weapons to other classes, that would be good. This isn’t a matter of gw2 becoming gw1, that’s not going to happen, shouldn’t happen, and won’t. The game will stand as it is, but adding skill diversity will be a net plus.

I play with 20 weapon skills and use all of them for a total of 25 skills at my disposal in any given fight. I also have more skills that trigger from weapon procs and dodge rolls. I also can do blast finishers for more spice. More than enough to have fun with in my experience.

This, miss old good times where you had like after 2 years, nearly 58 skills to create something unique, and you were always able to break meta. We have no diversity at all.
WvW 0 0 6 4 4 staff / hammer builds with shouts and purge. And every other class follow pretty much the same, so far i find thief most fun because every weapon is usable, i can’t really say the same for other classes.

Yeah… except for the fact that people never actually broke the meta. The meta changed due to ArenaNet making big changes to the meta-skills.

A bit like how it is here, when they do large changes to certain skills or traits.

Rose-tinted glasses seems to be rather common on these forums now and then.

I agree, OP. When playing GW2 I’m really wanting some new skills, especially new weapon skills. I started GW1 a little after I had pre-ordered and played through 30 levels on my guardian in GW2 back in 2012, and mainly started because I wanted the HoM skins very much and also because GW2 seemed to reference a lot of events that happen in GW1 when you take the time to stop and read NPC dialogue within each zone.

Started with Prophecies and got really immersed in its story and the combat really shined. I was blown away at simply having henchmen with me after first entering post-searing Ascalon. When I cleared Prophecies and Factions and got to Nightfall, I started using heroes which just upped the enjoyment factor ten-fold for me. It really made me regret not trying the game out sooner; gameplay reminded of KOTOR 1 and 2. Then there was the plethora of new skills to purchase and try out almost every new outpost.

As GW2 has passed its 2nd birthday already I find myself playing GW1 more often. Even with a third party site dedicated to “meta” builds, some professions have multiple builds to chose from and multiple versions for a team of heroes if you prefer to play solo like I do. Or sometimes these “meta” builds aren’t the best choice for certain parts of the game and challenge you to maybe tweak or break them as the OP stated.

I’d be thrilled if GW2 expanded on the existing skill set for weapons or even just utilities that aren’t just a couple of situational healing skills.

“GW2 takes everything you loved about Guild Wars…” was never more than an attempt to get GW vets to look at what GW2 offered. There was no way to guarantee that assertion was anything more than hype unless they took everything from GW.

Topics get repeated every week, at least somewhat because Forum Search is borked.

At the OP… I asked earlier and you did not respond. What would you add? Players asked for new Elite skills or new traits that had to be capped as in GW. Instead we got trait revamp, with all traits either capped or bought at a 1000% cost increase (even leaving out skill points). If you just say, “I don’t know, that’s ANet’s job.” then you’re less likely to get what you want. The more specific you can be, the more likely it is you might get something you recognize as being close to what you want.

I don’t think it’s going to happen. With fewer than 10 new skills total since launch and zero new skills in a year, it looks like this game is in its completed version skillwise.

OK YOU ASKED FOR IT NOW READ IT ALL THE WAY. HERE IT IS HOW I SEE GW2, NOT JUST BECOME IT IS MY FAVOURITE GAME , BUT BECAUSE I WANT BETTER EXPERIENCE FOR EVERY PVP PERSON!

I’LL SAY IT AND I MEAN IT, GUILD WARS 2 HAS THE ENGINE, TO CREATE PVP AN ART OF OWN BEAUTY, YOU JUST HAVE TO PEAL & POLISH IT!

We need things to define role harder, even thought arena net wanted to avoid that by giving each class a healing skill which is amazing move, but from skill wise perspective we have a problem, we have to many similar stuff in game, what i would love to see is:

1) FIRST OF ALL we need to prevent KEY MASHING 1111111111111111111111111.
Spamming 1111111111 does not bring anything to the table. PvP Needs challenge!

2) Separate PvE balance from PvP, and start balancing things like they should be balanced, every class has 2 weapons that are mainly used, only thief has many diversity, and maybe 1 more other class but lets keep it simple there is no class that could make HALF weapons to work above average(rated by efficiency) in this game. So first of all we need separated balance.

3). Make viable at least 5 out of 10 (water weapons not included) weapons to work with them. Simply we need to break forced weapons, make viable more things and let people play what play style they suit. Make class awesome for what they are and define them with weapon skills for every profession.

4). Currently every weapon offers 5 default skills. To break out of static BOX OF VIEW, and make it diverse we need 10 weapon skills for each weapon, example:
WEAPON SLOT 1 ( skill A, or skill B ) pick one
WEAPON SLOT 2 ( skill A, or skill B ) pick one
WEAPON SLOT 3 ( skill A, or skill B ) pick one
WEAPON SLOT 4 ( skill A, or skill B ) pick one
WEAPON SLOT 5 ( skill A, or skill B ) pick one

5) add 2 more skills to every utility tree line ( which is maximum 10 skills for every class).

AS FOR THE LAST and not LEAST:

6) Improve combining skills harder, make enemy team suffer if they don’t combine things. This is MMORPG we need team work give us tactics to destroy clustering of headless numbers of people who just stack numbers and try to win the game by key mashing 111111.

Examples:
Mesmer + Thief = veil should not be as good as it is without combining it with thief to improve stealth. True veil should be combined.
Necro + Ranger combine necro and ranger to do insane condition damage, single or area field damage.
Elemental + Guard.. reflecting dome with fire reflection damage.
Warrior + engie = create insane buffs to reinforce group buffs

I could talk for days, and share ideas with arena net to improve my most beloved game, but as you can see, very little people are ready to read after they request arguments. AND ONE MORE THING:

MY AND MY OWN OPINION:
Thief should be stealth lords and no other class should have chance to do it(not even mesmers without help of thiefs).
Guards protection and relfection.. (lack of shield and they are called guards.. yeah…)
Warriors they should be most sustainable in battle right?
Mesmers masters of cloning and faking the numbers messing with you.. shatter build is good example, mesmer should be always in front of your face, but you should not tell the difference between original and fake.
Rengers should have optional pets and be very good at range + traps, and become more of a real hunters(i’m not WOW fan, never played that game), Why i think rangers should have optional pets, is because necros can have them too, and rangers are the only class that can use bow efficiently. So rangers should have choice to either improve single damage or multi target with pet.
Necros should become condition masters..
Engies should have insane tools to buff up things(aka i see them as asuras, tech guys)
Elementals masters of spells, should have true damage, breaking armors, ( they are well defined already).

I don’t expect anet to do that for free, I would love to pay for it as an game upgrade. I’m game developer as well, and I listen to people, if arena net would listen 5% of what we say, this game would be on much better place as it is right now.

Wish I could get back to GW1.. PvP-GvG. It feels like we are outcasted, not desired or rewarded..

Then my friend, we have a problem that Anet doesn’t want to face.
I’ve never played WOW as i’ve mantioned before, and i don’t support key smashing system and MILLION OF SKILLS to use at once.

I love like arena net made as in GW1 and GW2
( limited skill bar that you can own at the time)

If we don’t add up with weapon skillsets, then this is poor game design, and arena net knows that more then me u and every other person that would try to convince them other ways

OK YOU ASKED FOR IT NOW READ IT ALL THE WAY. … as it is right now.

My question assumed that you were after more options. Instead, it seems that you want more skills, but also a change to the way professions work. You seem to want to take things away from existing professions, or make them need another profession to accomplish something they can do on their own, now.

I get that this would require more dependency on other professions. However, I’m not sure this would be good for anyone who likes the current degree of independence. It certainly would not please me.

I think about new skills every now and again, but without the drastic changes to game-play you are talking about. When I do, I find that’s it’s not easy to come up with something that would not be redundant. Every option I can think of that would not be redundant (e.g., revising Necromancer staff so it’s either a Power weapon or a condition weapon, not both), would mess with the philosophy that ANet is basing profession design around.

I was hoping people had some insights into what to add that would not change the game into something I’d no longer recognize. No such luck, but thanks for your time.

Remove the #1 weapon skill. Introduce auto-attack and make the current #1 weapon skill the auto attack by right clicking an enemy or whatever.

Remake the now free #1 weapon skill slot a meaningful skill to use.
