GW1 main & your GW2 main
Heal/prot monk was my main in GW. I picked ele because I thought it was the closest thing to it.
GW1: Ranger – Ranger was the biggest toolbox in GW1. With secondary professions, I found a lot more fun and viable ranger builds than any other class.
GW2: Thief – I nailed down thief early on because GW2’s ranger was stuck with a pet. I didn’t want to be forced to take a pet, an the thief looked like a solid “toolbox” option.
I’ve since tried the GW2 ranger, and found it much less fun to play in any game type than my thief, so I feel I made the right choice. (I also like my engineer)

Not only are both my GW1 and GW2 mains male human rangers, but the latter is a direct descendant of the former (both even have the same last name).
Ele/Monk in GW1 I played the most. Was pretty good survival character and could be a decent healer too. Had a Paragon spear chucker too and a Ele/Mesmer. Assassin was a fun class in GW1, never got too far with mine though.
In GW2 obviously picked Ele. I definitely enjoy it more then GW1 Ele. And as far as the lack of monk, while its sad to see it gone but I don’t miss it. The healing that Ele and other classes provide works enough for me.
MM Necro in both as I love black magic that controls the dead.
I played engineer and ranger( GW2 ) as they are new / new mechanics.
guard ,nades eng ,Trap thief \ranger ,signet\shout warrior, zerk mes\ele & shiro rev.
GW1 – female ranger w. the same animal companion throughout the entire time and over all continents.
GW2 – female sylvari ranger w. a bunch of loyal companions but one she especially favors.
I was among the few that loved the pet even before it got updates to be more controlable in GW1, it is the main reason I always want to be ranger.
GW1 – Monk, loved supporting, especially in PVP.
GW2 – Guardian, was kind of the closest profession to a Monk.
Not only are both my GW1 and GW2 mains male human rangers, but the latter is a direct descendant of the former (both even have the same last name).
Mine’s also a direct descendant of the original with the same surname. it can be a pain to find armor that doesn’t cover up the balthazar gauntlets but I feel it would just be disrespectful to a retired character I played for years not to wear them.

1st account: 14 characters; my main was a Necro/ with the most common secondaries being Ranger, Mesmer, and Ele. Never really did the minion master thing, although I often used minions on my hero Necros. Also played an Assassin a lot, usually with Ranger or Ele as the secondary.
2nd account (created before extra character slots were available): 8 characters, my main was a Ritualist/ with the most common secondary being Monk. He was my go to guy for hunting down bosses and taking their unique green items. Also played a Mesmer/ quite a bit on this account, mostly with Assassin or Ele as secondaries.
GW2: 8 characters. No real main as I tend to jump around from character to character, but my first 80 was a Thief, followed by a Mesmer, followed by a Ranger, followed by the most recent 80, an Ele. A Warrior will probably be next.
GW1 : Human female ele
GW2: Human female ele
Both have the exact same name. 250 years may separate them but they are direct lineage and 2’s parent wanted to acknowledge the former hero in the blood line by naming their daughter after her. Turns out the name seems to breed hero’s :-)
GW1 – Assassin, loved how the skills worked and the damage I could do.
GW2 – Right now I’m stuck between Warrior and Guardian and having trouble deciding on who to main so now I’ve been wasting gold on both of them. :|
My main in GW1 is a Ritualist— I played mostly a Spirit Spammer that sometimes used with Signet of Spirits or Wanderlust. When the Domain of Anguish was still new, I also made some sort of Channeling AoE build to serve as one of the “spikers” in one of the established metas.
In GW2, I main an Engineer. I originally wanted to play my Engineer similarly to how I played my Ritualist, but I wasn’t quite satisfied of how an all-turret build would work. However, I ended up sticking with an Engineer because I like blowing stuff up.
I am Fleeting Flash, in-game dungeon cosplayer of Reddit Refugees [RR] .
My main in GW1 was a warrior named Exelion the Great. My main now is a human warrior named Exelion The Last. They are supposed to be descendants. Similar to my permapre named Khaos of Tyria and my human theif named Khaos the Rogue.
My guild wars 1 main was a mesmer named Percival Wolfthane. I have two guild wars 2 mains, so far, a Sylvari Mesmer named Ivymere and a Sylvari ranger named Thrist.
A Mesmer was my Guild Wars 1 main, though the term “main” is loose here.
My Guild Wars 2 main is an Elementalist.
No relation between the two.

GW1: Necromancer – they were one of the most versatile classes in the game with several build options including blood spike, MM, SS, debuff pressure, battery and so many more.
GW2: Guardian – was going to play a necro in GW2, but I didn’t like their skill set or build options which seemed very limited and the guardian skills such as sanctuary, wall of reflection, and shield of absorption are excellent for trolling players.
GW1: Monk and Necro
GW2: Guardian and Necro
I wasn’t into my monk that much, but he was the first one to be created. Enjoyed my necro a lot more and was fun to play. Liking my guardian and especially my necro in the sequel, since I can build her to be a melee tank and still dish out a decent amount of damage. Loving those wells.
Guildwars = Mesmer
Why I dont mesmer anymore…
I dont like butterflies they’re creepy.
rangerxnecro/mes in gw1
engineer in gw2 :p
I have no mains in either game. I have an assortment of characters that I play more or less equally, although aesthetically my favourite was my Assassin in GW1 and my Sylvari Necro in GW2.
GW1: Mesmer named Mocking Bird
GW2: Mesmer named Mockingbird
Despite being the same profession and having the same name, they play really differently though.. I miss my GW1 mesmer.

Forum Warrior: Black Belt in Ninja Edits
GW1 I didnt really have a “main” My Rit was for farming, my Sin was for dungeons and my warrior completed all 3 campaigns as well as fow, each were good in a variety of differant roles.
In GW2 cant decide on a main between my warrior and my guardian both lack any variety with guardian been slightly more interesting…
Currently levelling a thief and a mesmer, maybe one day one of them will be my main?
GW1 Elementalist
GW2 Elementalist
Although in GW1 my Dervish became my favorite character. But my Elementalist was there from launch day.
GW1 necromancer GWAMM
GW2 I tried necro in beta 1 and loved it. In beta 2 started an engi and loved it even more. Now I’m stuck playing engi as a main.
Got guardian 80, necro is still 6 and begging for playtime.
Delayed content is eventually good. Rushed content is eternally bad. ~ Shigeru Miyamoto
GW1 Assassin/Ranger
GW2 Ranger (with a close second my Mesmer)
Gw1 Dervish: i was a dervish before the masive update and i always love gettin in someones face and swinging a scythe the devish had the best animation for a scythe and when theupdate came for flash enchantments the dervish easly became one of the most over powerd classes i ran a massive healing build with Vow of Strength i hade +8 seconds of heal.
Gw2 ran into a bad road block when they were announching the clases. before the announcement of mesmer. i jst didn’t see a class that swung a scythe and i hunted videos beta videos and such for a scythe and no scythe was introduced so i bacally almost gave up on percussing the game. thank fully my alliance mate tole me just get the game its awesome. so i decide to pick a mesmer because of the armor light armor and the animations were purple wich matched my armor on gw1 so i picked mesmer. im still wating for a revamp dervish. but until then my main is a mesmer.
GW1 : monk
GW2 : mesmer
Archeage = Farmville with PK
My main is always a Ranger archetype in every game.
Main in GW1, Prophecy Ranger with a Melandru’s stalker. And.. I had 2 other Rangers. Canthan and Elonian
Main here is Norn Ranger with Owl, also have another ranger already.
I really really wish Melandru were tamable here. I miss my kitty. I also miss the armor options in GW1, we need a simple skirt with top like Studded or Tyrian.
GW1 Mesmer, GW2 Engineer
Tekkit’s Workshop
1 necro and 2 necro. I wanted to make the same exact (appearance and all) char but gw2 doesnt have the canthan hair styles or faces so I went for a descendant char. I dont feel as much as a necromancer with gw2 necro but kitten it.
GW1: Elementalist, Warrior
GW2: Elementalist, Guardian
Ele in gw1 and Mez in gw2.
GW1: Ranger
I never really had a second in GW1. With my severe case of altzheimers, I spend years of deleting and remaking whatever profession I felt like playing. It wasn’t till HoM and needing elite armors that I decided to preserve some of em. I generally considered my Assassin or Ritualist as a second.
GW2: Guardian.
Not quite similarly from GW1, I just haven’t spent the time yet to find a good second. As of now, I’ve got an engi, necro, ranger at 80, and I’m working on a mesmer. For now, my Engi is the best equipped of my alts, but I can’t tell if it’ll stay that way.
GW1: Warrior, had him from launch decked out in his pink Elite Gladiator armour (no helm existed when I bought it so I use elite ascalonian). Loved the supporting of allies at the front line that shouts gave me :P. Though I would mainly run in chop things to bits by spamming the elite skill Dragon Slash(?). Also had a Ritualist from day 1 of Factions, loved him too, mainly went support/healer with him rather than spirit spam.
GW2: The support side I enjoyed made me naturally transfer to Guardian as my main, though I played all classes in the betas. Though with Guardian I can support AND do some damage, best of both!
GW1 Necro,
GW2, just starting since a month or two and only have elementalist, ranger and warrior. Last 2 are lvl 30 only my ele is lvl 80 full gear. So much too soon for me to say.
GW1: Ranger (/Rit or War mostly)
GW2: Ranger
I also use Engineer, and those two were my first 80s. Then I leveled a Warrior, Guard, and Ele and realized why they’re considered faceroll classes.
Call me paranoid, but I feel that while sharing info about professions and gear and even back story is cool, I don’t think it’s a good idea to reveal the names of your GW characters, as that’s one of the things needed to access GW accounts.
GW1: Elementalist. Usually ran Fire-specced but sometimes switched to Air. I wasn’t actually always the biggest fan of the class, but I stuck with him because I always stick with my first character. Usually had Mesmer as my secondary class, though didn’t really use it much.
GW2: Elementalist again, although for a while in the BWEs I bounced around between Necromancer, Guardian, and Engineer. It wasn’t until the final BWE that I actually tried an Elementalist that I realized how much more fun the GW2 version was.
In GW1 it was a Canthan Mesmer , in GW2 it was originally a charr engi that I made my main , but due to camera problems when doing jumping puzzles I then decided to switch to a norn which wasn’t any better . Now my main is a human mesmer again .
GW1 – Warrior (sometimes Ritualist)
GW2 – Warrior for PvE and Ranger for sPvP
GW1: Prot Monk
GW2: Mesmer
GW1 – Paragon
GW2 – Guardian(Save your privileges!")
gw1 ranger/mesmer I put lots of hours on both
gw2 definitely not ranger/mesmer, went axe warrior and auto attack to success =D
GW1: Ranger (later Dervish started to creep up in importance)
GW2: Engineer
[TTBH] [HATE], Yak’s Bend(NA)
GW1 main: Ranger/Monk (post-searing), Monk/Ranger (pre-searing).
GW2 main: Thief.
I really only played GW1 a bit to tie me over until the release of GW2. (had the game for a really long time, but just couldn’t get into it for some reason)
Anyway!
GW1 – Went with Necro/Mesmer. Didn’t get incredibly far but there seemed to be pretty good synergy with their skills.
GW2 – Decided to go with Mesmer. I love the illusion and trickery concept about them.
Gemini Man (Mesmer) / Knight Man (Guardian)
GW1: Male Elementalist, with full sets of… everything! FoW armour, Obsi Edge, Voltaic spear, shields with every resistance for PvP… It was originally a Necro/Ele, but then I found out that I was using more the Ele part than the Necro part, so rerolled to Ele/X.
GW2: Started with a Human Guardian Female as main, but moved to Norn Mesmer Female. I find the mesmer really fun to play.
GW1: Heal Monk (never did Prot/Smite)
GW2: Mesmer
However, for a period I also had
GW1: Ele, Assassin, Necro, Dervish
GW2: Thief, Ele
Gw1: Mesmer
Gw2: Ranger
