KongZhong published the results for 2Q14. The revenue for GW2 China is hidden under the section “net games” There is an increase from 25M $ to 32M $. Since World of Warplanes launched in the same quarter it is impossible to extract the revenue for GW2. They gave some details about GW2 China during the conference call.

• focus on PvP/e-sports in 3Q and 4Q; mention of the great tournaments
• very strong and passionate community
• more large-scale promotions for free trials in September

No. Permanent free trial could be stuff like “you can play until level 20 and a lot of things, like trading,guilds,mails are disabled”

Wat? 6-9 million copies was all copies sold between America and Europe, are you expecting 1 country to be able to sell as much as NA and EU? Plus, since the release of the game in August 18, 2012 it only reached 3 million copies around January…

Where did you even got that number of 6-9 millions?! Across all 2 years? Are you expecting that a game released like 3 months ago sells even close to the same amount as 2 years?

US/EU launch was 1 million+ preordered.

I don’t know of a single MMO launched in the past 3 years that had less than 1 million sales in the first week.

US/EU had 2 million sales in the first quarter, eventually reaching 3 million.

The devs said they had a larger potential playerbase in China and were hoping to do better there.

They didn’t… they are way under their expectations… aka… tanking.

Edit: this also explains why Anet has been laying people off.

Some people do. The over 300+ milion dollars this game has earned came straight out of some other MMO’s pocket. They post here a lot
