GW2 Free Trial
Don’t support the Gem Shop, it’s that easy.
How about they’re a business looking to expand? Players leave MMOs all the time, they have to replace them somehow.
How about free trials are really popular and people ask for it on here from time to time. GW2 has not had that many.
I know some of my friends who bought the game after a free trial- simply because they cannot afford to just buy it outright if they are unsure.
I think maybe they extended because of lack of awareness of trial (I didn’t even see the announcement till the 1st, as it didn’t show up on my launcher and I don’t regularly look at facebook). By then it was “too late” to tell any friends about it. Besides its midterm week for them. So it fell at a bad time. But the extension does let people play over the weekend if they got a late start.
As for the gold spam, I logged in this week and had no idea why the spam just came out of no where. Of course after I found out about the trial it was pretty obvious.
It goes hand in hand with the $40 digital heroic edition.
Obvious reason is to bolster account sales. As for why now? College students are settled in and besides meeting people from other parts of the country/world they may meet GW2 players and wish to try it out.
<pulls string>
The cynic cries DOOOOOOOM!
Maybe 3rd quarter sales numbers for the game are lower than expected and they want to get a head start on 4th quarter sales?

Maybe they wanted to make up for the trial site being down for a day. Maybe lots of people were signing up, and the turnover was good, so it seemed like a good idea. Who knows? Do we really care what the reason is? More people playing is always a good thing, is it not?
Why do you think they did it OP? Could it be because they want people to buy their game? :ooooo
There is honestly only one answer to this.
- They want to increase their fanbase and market their game as fashionably as possible. Free trials is a great way to say “Hey! Try out our game for free!”. If people enjoy it, they will purchase, or work towards purchasing.
I do want to say though, as I believe this is why he is posting about this.
The Gold Spammers are outrageous, and currently are bypassing the suppressive messaging. Gaile stated that when you report a gold seller, they are usually banned within a couple minutes. I have seen some spammers going on for over 30 minutes, sometimes even longer.
With this free-trial, putting a few more GM’s on servers (LA particularly) to watch for this. People are barely able to get a word in at times.
Tinfoil hats allowed so: anet gm put free trial on they create a RMT website themselves, sell real gold in game themselves.,ban themselves create new account bypassing the suppresisive messaging.I’ve seen GMs do these in other games and their games got boycotted. Why not gw2.

First a leak of Ascended armor, now a leak on Legendary Tinfoil hats.
If you didn’t know, they extended this. Also as many of you may know, it has increased gold spammers tenfold.
Does anybody know why they extended the trial? I’m curious. Do they need more cash? Do they want to bolster their numbers up before the holiday season so they can put it down in advertising? What are your thoughts?
Tinfoil hats are also available at the front desk for your convenience.
Quarterly sales call coming up next month, they trying to boost sales numbers before then is my best guess.
BECAUSE GW2 IS DYING
Really though probably because they want more players? Doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure that out.
They also have to please the gods over at NCSoft
It’s funny. Lots of people asked for trial weekends/weeks/periods and when ArenaNet does do something the players ask for, then they are accused of all kinds of nefarious goings-on. Lol, just can’t win.

Which was fine for September but the extension was into October which counts toward the 4th quarter.

So glad I don’t have to worry about my MMO dying for once. $60 for the game then $30 for two months of play then the game is dead, new MMO, repeat. Game price goes down to $15 in month 3, then free in month 4. A few people return, the game is never the same. You play the next mmo and laugh at people who talk about SWTOR/STO/etc./etc./etc.
1) They test new software for faster identifying spammer bots and bots in general
2) They make a statistic on how much money they earn by selling the game compared to the monthly earnings from the cash shop. They test which is better F2P or B2P
i did not even know there was a free trial going on again until i saw the spam lol
Game is still on retail shelves last I looked. When that vanishes I worry. A box on a shelf is free advertising that the game is out there.
