Thank you Dev team/others.

In regards to the past year and so of GW2’s life. The game has become less grindy and much more fun to play. They have been listening to the player-base and despite recent hiccups. (Yes Guild Missions/World Bosses/RPers.)

Since release we now have:

Account Bound:

Legendaries
Ascended Items
WxP
Wallets
Wardrobe
Dyes
Karma

They are going to change:

WvW Achievements (they are trying to find a way to make them more fair)

They have merged:

Servers via Megaserver system which despite its flaws. It allows regular players/new players to participate in more active maps.

Despite what anyone might have to say about this, I have a friend who plays the game and is new, and this has made it much easier for them to play and they see an active game.

The same zones we all played through at the start which had active players in them due to the game just beginning. Is now more filled with players once again. Giving new players/alts others to enjoy the game with.

They have also closed the gap between, PvP/PvE/WvW:

You can now earn most of the same rewards in any game mode. (Aside from Dungeons (sPvP/PvE) and LS exclusives (PvE).

PvP players can now earn armor/materials that would before have been limited to purely PvE. So players are no longer punished for playing the game how we would like.

Guilds have finally gotten:

Last Online

Which despite how long it has taken, is MUCH appreciated.

Most of the grind in this game, now comes strictly from things that are Higher End rewards. Ascended Armor/Legendaries, and exclusive Dungeon Content/LS exlusives. Fractals. (Originally stated as geared toward End Game content. The higher level of Fractals are not just meant for anyone.)

None of these are necessary to daily gameplay and most of them are cosmetic. GW2 has come quite a long way and is certainly more easy to enjoy and better for it.

I have high hopes for the next Living Story release. And I have hopes that any of the recent problems, from the Feature Patch. Will be fixed and taken care of. Because let’s face it people. They are listening.

So again, thank you Dev team/others for all your hard work so far. We players may get frustrated with things, and we let it be known. But so far you have been doing quite a good job recently, and you deserve to hear it.

I really do wish there was an instanced way to visit LS content because I spent most of the last year AFK due to RL. I would just like to be able to see/play some of it.

I hope they work more on the features than on the living story.

Ok let me then say one positive thing about this whole grind issue (as you created a special thread for the positives).

The account-bound stuff was an improvement.

Overall the grind of-course did not get better it’s still all a gold-grind. You even say it yourself.. “most of them are cosmetic.” Now imagine thats what you care about.

Most of your post has not much to do with grind like Guild finally getting last online.. What is great, still waiting for last represented. Anyway will not talk about those as it;s not related to grind..

But yes, making stuff account-bound was good, a little bit for grinding (the stuff you might want on multiple chars now requires only the gold-grind for one) but mainly made the game a little more alt friendly.

Not having to grind a second char to rank 300 individuality to gain WvW buffs. (Not grindy.)

Not having to purchase every dye in the game on each character individually. (Not grindy.)

Not being forced to purchase multiple sets of Ascended Gear/Weapons and being able to account share? (Not grindy.)

Not having to decide which character has Karma required for Karma Gear (which is soulbound) and being able to purchase recipes with any. (Not Grindy.)

Not having to re-purchase T3 cultural end game armor for 120g a set when you already have one? (Not grindy.)

Being able to play sPvP and earn Dungeon Armor/Legendary item components, when one normally plays sPvP all day long anyway? (Not Grindy. Already playing sPvP all day long anyhow, now being rewarded.)

Most of my post equates exactly to this game being less grindy. And none of these were there at release. So all of them are massive QoL (Quality of Life) and game improvements, all aimed at making GW2 what…

…not a grindy game.

No cosmetics are necessary. If you would like to spend your time gathering them, that is a choice. But the core game is becoming massively less grindy.

Legendary Gear taking time to get was never an issue. Making them truly Legendary (and account bound/effects) was. And they corrected that issue, and we <3 them for it.

ANet once stated that they are considering options to make LS and PS replayable. Guess it’s gonna be Soon™ Valv—ANet Time

Btw, would you get every dye for every char? Don’t think so.

However when you want Ascended Gear you pretty much still need to get it for multiple chars.

WvW is indeed a good improvement for less grind..

The other claims make less sense. Deciding what char needs karma is great but completely unrelated to more or less grind.

Anyway, you wanted to keep it positive so I will not go in to the rest.

They did a lot of that in the last feature pack.

Grind is in the eye of the beholder. I define grind as being required to do something I’m not good at to get a reward I would like.

We are heroes. This is what we do!

Not having to purchase every dye in the game on each character individually. (Not grindy.)

This backfires for all new playes in this game. Dyes are now accoutbound but they can only be obtained by crafting, spending laurels or by buying them in the gemshop. So it will turn to an even greater frind for all those who still have to get their dyes once the TP prices are rising.
Just sayin.

To continue making the game less grindy, maybe Anet should make exotic account bound too.

And introduce ways to make people wanting to switch build more easily. For example if a person want to switch between berserker, sentinel, and cleric stats, he need to buy 3 sets of ascended gear. That is almost as costly as some cheaper legendary.

Thanks ANET, the game got a lot better and I actually game back to it.
I also think that any grind left in the game is required to make the game rewarding at all. Giving out anything for free would be bad, as well as tying to much content to i.e. one dungeon.

There are just two big thingies left:
The rather long time it takes for updates like new skills/traits/permanent stuff/balance, which a lot of people would like to see more often and
The replayability of LS (Here is a post with my idea how to make it replayable https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/livingworld/lwd/Suggestion-Yakkington-The-Historian/first#post3969176 ).

And make more paths like the Atherpath, I really enjoy it with enemies who use boons and condition damage and running out of AoE etc. Feels a lot more interesting! Solve the problem with defiant also please.
