*GW2 Progression and Contents*
So what I got out of this is: Every problem I have with the game is that I don’t get better gear and I want better gear. Really, the only thing I want is better gear, or possibly consumables that are worthwhile, but probably just better gear. The longer I play the game, which does not equate to skill in any meaningful way, but I’ll pretend like it does, the more better gear I should be able to get. I don’t care about titles and fashion and rank, just more better gear.
And with that in mind, I’m sorry, but you missed the point of lateral progression. The point of GW2 endgame is not gear progression and better gear, the entire point is 100% cosmetic. That’s why all there is after 80 is fashion, titles and rank.
So it’s unfortunately for you that your desires and the design of the game don’t coincide, but that’s how it is.

|Deadeye|Warrior|Herald|Daredevil|Reaper|Spellbreaker
So….what sort of “useful” rewards are you talking about that would make you feel “properly compensated”?
If you’re going to argue for stronger gear, then are you saying that you want GW2 to be the gear treadmill that other MMOs are? Are you saying that you’re ok losing a fight in PvP because someone just outgears you?
If not, then how can you give “useful” gear that doesn’t cause this situation?
All your complains is about things that the game was not designed for and doesn’t want to be.
GW2 isn’t about vertical progression, here you work for a very low vertical progression and after that you just get horizontal like fashion gear, tittles, different traits that aren’t more powerful but only different, and PvP here is about balance, there all players have the same tools and you need to use you own skills to be better than other, and not a contest of who spent more time in the game and have less life.
(and the other 8 elite specs maxed too)
Honestly. You have 4k hours in this game. I think that you are just burnt out. You have a cost to entertainment value of $0.03 per hour.
The average player that has played scene launch has 1-2k.
Sit back and enjoy the game as it is. Guild wars 2 is not about vertical progression.
However, I will give the OP that he made me chuckle at “all smoke and no roast”
Hell, I’ve got 5k hrs on my account and what I’d like to see is as many shinies as there is content.
Game’s Stimuli and end game contents revolve around fashion and appearance of the character. Sound reasonable, but without real end game content the game is getting boring. This has been said a lot of time.
So:
- Living World are good. But it’s not enough.
- Contents:
High Level contents where veteran and everyone can more and more test themselves, instead of doing iterative and simple things to have “fun”.
High, Mid, Low Level instances can coexist so it will not affect novices.
A fairly example could be fractal, where lv 80 is much more harder than lv1.
All the dungeons and world events should be build in the way that you can choose which level of difficult you want.
This will implement a new end game part, because High level content will be very hard to finish as well as will be very hard to reach the final reward.
It’s not for higher or better armor but it’s just to add harder contents to keep people like me in this game.
It’s not for higher rewards in terms of gold.
It’s about more fun and more challenges that the game doesn’t have now.
However if you succeed in a hard thing the reward will be better for sure.
- Character progression:
Meanwhile I’ve always known that this game has no vertical progression and it’s not designed for that. However.
I’d like that characters can earn new stats, new skills throughout the permanence in GW2, an example would be WvW abilities tab, for PvP as well as PvE.
This would be a long term goal or a slowly progression of characters that for EXAMPLE add a choice of stat, a choice of abilities once, every tot rank points or every tot exp earned… as wxp works for WvW abilities more less.. in the event to maintain the design of GW2.
Every character will earn something to improve its own abilities and to reward the time spent in GW2.
This abilities will be separate from PvP to WvW as well as PvE.
This is pretty much what I’d like to say.
