GW2 and Carbine Studios
ill probably be hated for that, but i think Carbine has much better and solid team than Anet! still both games are fun! but id LOVE see housing and other customization features in gw2.

That is a rather bold statement, seeing as Carbine haven’t actually released anything yet.
If we are going to do a direct comparison that would be between pre-launch ArenaNet and the current Carbine. And I think quite a few people would claim that there is a rather big difference between pre-launch AN and current AN.

Cracks don’t appear in a game’s armor until the honeymoon period is over.
It’s like comparing your wife with some pretty young thing you don’t know at all. There are lots of women who are nice to look at. None of them are likely to ever compare to my wife. Not favorably anyway. lol
yeah but you forget something important, when gw2 was in beta and players were asking for obvious things to be added in the game or fixed, nothing happened, carbine postponed the game launch for wildstar more than 6 months based on beta feedback because they actually listen to players. that for me is enough to say carbine is more solid team than anet.

Actually, several things people asked for have been added to Guild Wars 2. Eye color changes were in, fans complained, Anet changed it. The ability to walk wasn’t in, fans complained and Anet added it. There are actually quite a few examples of stuff people asked for that got added, including increased loot from champion bags.
I can almost guarantee that six months after launch (and probably a good deal sooner), the Carbine forums will look just like these.
Why do I believe this? Because it happens with every MMO.
Who’s Carbine?
~reads thread~
Oh. They make Wildstar. That’s that other MMO I’ve only ever heard or read about in the GW2-forums. Which is kinda funny in itself. Looks like mainly a few GW2-players are hyped about it, while I’ve never seen it mentioned anywhere else.
Keep Carbine to Wildstar. I don’t want them wasting their development time on this game.

You, sir, just earned my respect. Well, more respect than the basic respect, that is. Thumbs up!

It’s incredibly naive to think that “beta feedback” pushed the launch by 6 months, especially since Carbine is not publishing the game themselves.
I’m well excited about Wildstar, but it’s far too early to praise the devs or the game when it hasn’t even launched yet.
Don’t worry, WildStar is actually just as awful as GW2. The difference being it has less content, wants 15 bucks a month and has a trinity, if you’re into that kind of kinky thing.
oh look even greener grass is over this other way.
Just another Copy Pastarino western mmo.
To be fair, the game is still in beta. But the bottom line is, both are part of NCSoft. It wouldn’t hurt to see if one aspect of the other game could be sometime used as a blueprint for GW2. The only thing player housing would be good for is your own, personal likes. It doesn’t affect your game or story. It’s just additional fluff that I’m willing to spend Gems on.

Not to forget .. it looks like WoW.
Then better took something from AION .. that is also NCSoft, and at least looks much better.
Best MMOs are the ones that never make it. Therefore Stargate Online wins.
No offense, Smooth Penguin, but I think you derailed your own thread by bringing Carbine into the picture. You might have had more responses to your actual topic – housing – if you’d left that out. While it may be possible for ANet could learn something from another company’s work, there does not need to be collaboration between the companies for that to happen.
That said, customizable player housing would provide “something to do” for a sub-set of the GW2 player-base. As such, it would probably be a good thing as long as the population that wants it is big enough to justify the resources used.

Not sure how I derailed this thread, when I’m trying to suggest the customized housing used in WildStar could give some direction to housing in GW2. It’s the opposite actually, since other housing suggestions are just “give us housing”, and nothing more. Now that another game produced by NCSoft has a nice looking system, and the fact that cross game promotions can happen, I’m hoping something could be done for GW2.

Before my post, how many other posters were talking about your suggestion?
I wrote from time to time they should have a look at the housing from EQ2, and even if i don’t know how the housing in Wildstar looks, i say the style from EQ2 would fit much better.
