Ok so this game has been out for a bit over a year. It is suppose to be Going for 5-10 years. How will they do that without an expansion. People will get bored of this game. There is a new batch of mmos coming out in 2014 I think it would be smart to release an expansion with those new mmos. Look at wow if they would not have made all those expansion the game would be dead. But they did and its the most popular mmo. Will Anet and Ncsoft make an expansion anytime soon.

So we’re going to make a new expansion thread every time an old one moves to the second page? Nobody here can tell you and nobody from Anet will say anything.

No expansion is being planned at all for the future.

Unfortunately I don’t see the living story releases competing with new mmos like Everquest Next so I’m hoping they decide to work on an expansion.

There’s no point. If they add a new race, Gem Store unlock. If they add a new class, Gem Store unlock. New giant map that has uber new content, Gem Store unlock. New dungeon tiers, Gem Store unlock. Mini Pet arena, Gem Store unlock. New level cap, everyone ragequits.

Because every two weeks they add something new. True they take most of it away 4 weeks later but it’s not like the game’s been static. Also they have said to expect more permanent content in the living stories and that could include new races, areas, and professions.

While they haven’t said there’s an “expansion” being worked on, there is indeed a separate team working on larger content, as the Living World team is a different team. Whatever they want to call it, expansion or not, there is something large being worked on. Beyond that, nothing else has been said. They’re contemplating how they should release these larger chunks of content, so I’m assuming they’re looking at the risks of selling them vs offering them for free with your original purchase. Though that part’s just speculation on my end.

exactly this. Can’t believe that some people still have no clue that Anet is working on “large content” that can be released in any way.

I still hope that Anet is working on making the Tengu a playable race, and to have Dominions of Winds added as a new city/starter area.

I’d love to have the Tengu as playable race. If their Dominion of the Winds became a new racial city, I would design it like Ebonhawke though. Lots of dynamic events, a hell lot of things to do, contrary to the other main cities.

As only one main city with action going on would seem a bit odd, I’d suggest designing a lot of events for the current main cities as well.
