GW2 has failed the test
You certainly have a very very bizarre test for a MMoRPG for a game to pass and fail.
Yes it would be nice but I personally can’t see this as a gamebreaker.
The request does make some sense, when you think about it in the context of “Role Playing” like Claliope is. That could involve acting as if you actually live in <Insert Town Here> instead of wandering the world, so sitting down for, say, a drink would be commonplace.
One thing that really works for it is the Town Clothes. It’s a nice touch.
I was also disappointed to find out we can’t sit in chairs. Surprising considering that we can interact with SO many other items in game.
I think that usually happens when you have different built races and a height slider.
I wonder if summoning your own chair would work easier (to be implemented).
“Whose Charr is this?”- “Ted’s.”
“Who’s Ted?”- “Ted’s dead, baby. Ted’s dead.”
More than one pose for sitting in a chair? You’re hard to please, virtually 90% of games would likely fail this “test”.

Chairs should give us an emote list, like other items do:
Sit
Cross legs
Fidget
Crouch
Lounge
I’m sorry I stepped outta yer box, don’ worry, if
ya whine enough they’ll put me right back.
LOL. I admit that it irks me that we can’t sit on chairs. Hopefully it gets implemented in the future. But hey, at least we can RP based on our Armor and dyes.
Heh, I know. The title was a bit dramatic. But that was one of the first things I said to my friend when I went into a tavern for the first time. “Well, GW2 has failed the ‘can I sit in a chair’ test…”
Seems like such a basic feature, but one of the replies did have a good point with how variable the heights of the characters are.
And I’m loving the dye system and the town clothes feature, for sure. Though I haven’t found any other clothing yet.
I just have that “Really? I can’t sit in a chair in -another- game?!” reaction when I see a modern-day game without that ability. Maybe a persistent emote that generates your own chair would work, like someone said above.
Not going to lie, I was secretly hoping this was one of those “Will it blend?” videos.

It would be really cool to have a /sitchair emote where your character “summons” a chair that he’s able to sit in… but would strict RP’ers be ok with that, I wonder…
I always loved that in Lord of the Rings Online. I thought it would be cool for a bunch of people to sit in the Prancing Pony and rp it up.
I have never done that, but it was cool to know people COULD.
Maybe they will add it later! It would be cool I think.
I’ll just say this.
In the Priory headquarters there’s a classroom type area with a “teacher” at the front and a room full of Priory scholars positioned at chair+desks that cover the entire floor.
All the “students” are sitting on the floor, with their bodies obnoxiously clipping up through the chairs and desk above them. It’s ridiculous looking. I think it’s pretty bad when even the NPCs can’t be made to sit properly.
The solution for character scaling on Asuras are high-chairs, complete with food tray and bibs.
Mine is:
Does the character talk without me having any say in it.
Yes = fail
No = good
Im not “playing” my character during the story I am more like piloting him.
I was a bit disappointed with this. I can see some very imaginative and fun positions for all the different, Asura climbing up into a big chair. A large Norn trying hard to not fall off a small stool.
It really is a small thing. You couldn’t do this in TOR but they also had no day or night cycle and horrible armor customization. I don’t RP but for all the small details in the game this seems like a big oversight.
Luckily the game has no sub so if they ever add it in you can come back.
Where’s my /putonrobeandwizardhat command? This game fails.
Uhh who gives a kitten. Maybe I’m being unfair but it’s sad enough playing these kind of games anyway, roleplaying a character in them, just seems beyond pathetic to me.
It would be nice if someone from anet would like to answer here, and explain, that they want to add this option in the future, or not.
