Guild Wars 2

To any of you that are not aware of this,there’s a
MMO face off taking place at the MMORPG site.
This is the 3rd round,the quarterfinals.
Atm GW2 is slightly behind TSW.

Voted for TSW. Its the better game right now.

Honestly, this is futile anyways.

If GW2 wins:
- Supporters will say: “Look, I told you GW2 is what we said it is!”
- All others will say: “This award is worth nothing.”

If GW2 loses:

- Supporters will say: “This award is worth nothing.”
- All others will say: “Look, I told you GW2 is what we said it is!”

GW2 gets my vote, playing both TSW and GW2, I find GW2 more engaging and friendly in terms of systems and mechanics, as well as community.

Both are great games, I just much prefer GW2

GW2 is the brighter happier MMO, and in many ways I prefer playing it, even after the diabolical mess the levelling system is in now. But it is like Fisher-Price ‘My First MMO’ compared to TSW which has mature writing, excellent cutscenes, mostly first rate voice acting, and just a darker tone to it.

Okay, if I were to break it down into 5 categories:

Fun: GW2
Approachability: GW2 pre-AMFP/TSW post AMFP
Storyline/writing: TSW
Voice acting: TSW
Performance: TSW (I play on Ultra settings there with no issues)

Cool, The Secret World vs GW2…

I chose GW2 , because it has more things that are better than TSW. TSW just has a far superior story. It is held back by crumby combat mechanics and questing.

The overall storyline for TSW is definitely better, but most of the main quests (for those who don’t play TSW, main quests are filler stories to gain AP and SP between and during “issues” of main story content") are full of rambling incoherence.

Respect to LOTRO fans, they are holding their ground against the behemoth.

I did enjoy TSW writing a lot, I just got to Egypt and hit a wall and did not continue. Running around to fill up AP and SP also did not interest me.

Precisely. Fiction is inherently subjective. The only reason opinion matters is because of time and money. Thinking philosophically, remove those elements and fiction becomes pure.

Trying to compare GW2 and TSW?
Akin to apples and oranges… Only thing they have in common is they are MMOs.
Having played both, I vote GW2.
Not because TSW is a bad game. Quite the opposite… It just never engaged me well.

Slow, repetitive combat.
Overly dark story.
Standard, linear on-rails story missions.
And don’t even get me started on their version of our Gem Store.

If you like ‘World of Darkness’ type of game worlds and stories, then TSW might appeal to you better.
For me, personally, I had my fill of that back in the 1990’s.

I’ve never even heard of this The Secret World. Guess I better check it out.

See, I’m kinda the opposite.

As a huge Cyberpunk/Cybergeneration fan, I am all into darker style writing and modern/futuristic settings. In fact I only started GW2 because it was the big thing when I realised APB:Reloaded was a load of cobblers. It is a testimony to how good GW2 is when I love it so much despite being out of my usual interest range.

TSW has a very unique pve.
But story wise, it’s far more appealing than what’s presented in Gw2.

TSW is a game with an amazing story-line. When you are done with the story, it is kinda over as it doesn’t really have the best gameplay and is lacking in many aspects. On the other hand, I can proudly say that I had my fun there.

Aside from that, GW2 is one of the most successful and popular titles in the west and these two aspects doesn’t specifically have to do with how good the game is but rather how popular and how commercially successful it was.

All in all, GW2 may lose vs ESO because of ESO’s huge fan-following and the fact that it is a much newer game. Generally though, GW2 will probably end up vs WoW in the finals and will indeed lose and take a 2nd place.

They are far to different to even be compared to each other imo.TSW felt to me like a single player detective game,where occasionally i shoot some things..tsw was fun while it lasted,untill i got bored out of my mind when i hit egypt and quit.
