GW2 in a moba? O_O??
Is this what you were thinking of?

I am not impressed.

Yup, lol… It has Rytlock on it xD
Master X Master will be a real thing, and include gw characters.
221 hours over 1,581 days of bank space/hot pve/lion’s arch afk and some wvw.
And these projects are probably where a lot of Guild Wars 2’s early profits went into. /sigh

I wonder if this is part of the reason they’ve refused to sell the CoH IP. I could see Mirror Spirit or Penny Yin in something like that.
It also makes me wonder about GW2. Rytlock was the obvious first choice from the game to jump over, because he’s the big, bad-kitten charr. Very distinctive. Is this why he was chosen to get the class upgrade? Or… is this where he went while he was in the mists?
It also makes me wonder who else they may try to push forward, and how that will affect them in GW2.
[Edit] Hey devs, care to comment on if this game relates in any way to Rytlock’s being so major in the HoT storyline?

If only they had done WvW this way…
“The PvE mode will include its own loot drops and gear progression to help characters get more powerful. In order to keep things balanced, this gear will not carry over to PvP. "
Gotta jump on board of that Heroes of the Storm cash grab.
First it was every mmo copying WoW. Now it’s every moba copying the successful ones.
RIP online gaming.

That game is developed by NCSoft, not by Arenanet. It’s doubtful Arenanet would actually have had anything to do with it. As a subsidiary of NCSoft their IP is subject to NCSoft’s use in things like this. It doesn’t have a lot to do with GW2’s profits.

To be fair now every mmo is copying each other.
Originality was been dead long before Shakespeare wrote plays.

There is a difference between good copies and cash grabs.
It’s not a new thing. When WoW was released quite a few people dismissed it as just a copy of Everquest and/or Runescape. (And I once came across a fascinating article on what MMOs today might look like if they’d copied Ultima Online instead.)
And when Ultima Online was released people dismissed it as a gimmicky copy of MUDs, which in turn were copying pen-and-paper DnD, which was based on table top war games…and oh look, we’ve kind of come full circle.
It’s true of many, many other things too. Other video games, non-video games, books, movies, political strategies, cake….truly completely original ideas are extremely rare.
But that’s not necessarily a bad thing, because sometimes a “copy” can improve on the original and then someone else can improve on that, or make a slightly different variation that appeals to a new group of people.
Where would we be if after the first person invented sponge cake everyone else made sure to only do completely different ideas and nothing that could be taken as a copy? We’d never have had chocolate fudge cake, or carrot cake or red velvet cake or dozens of other variations and life would not be worth living.
“Life’s a journey, not a destination.”
Apart from ncsoft using Rytlock as one of the charters (can they do that?) what does this have to with Guild Wars 2?

Where have you been for the last 10 years? 90% of games only get sales because of the Hype trains. Have a look at how many games you’ve bought in the last ten years, and then think about how different they are to what was said/shown, and if you got them based on the Hype surrounding them. Most game I buy are when Steam has a sail, I buy very few before that.
I can list every game I’ve preordered in my Gaming life.
Guild Wars Prophecies
Guild Wars Nightfall
Guild Wars Eye of The North
Mass Effect 3
Aliens Colonial Marines
That’s it, and only one of them I got because of the “Hype” around it, and it was the biggest let down. I enjoyed the game for what it was, but I’ll never buy a game made by gearbox again.

Please. Tell me more about these ‘sails.’
God that project looks terrible. This is why we can’t have nice things, crappy CEO’s, money men, venture capitalist, crappy project managers. So sick of the gaming industry these days, can’t even buy good games anymore. Twitch is god awful as well, contributes to crappy games.

Out of my post you want to pick that out while I was editing my mistake. Way to go there.

Anet need to make a moba.
Then they might stop balancing the whole game around PvP.
Good luck competing with dota, LOL and HotS.
Oversaturated market.
Do people who play Mobas actually ask for/want new ones?
Oh lord another Moba?
And here I was thinking LoL and dota2 was the be all and end all of mobas.
There really is dough in the toxic communities of mobas it seems..
Do people who play Mobas actually ask for/want new ones?
More likely people figure they will join this new Moba so they can be one of the front runners, rather than join an old Moba and be one of the nubs.
Rytlock? Is it the crappy warrior version or the crappy herald?
What were they thinking with that name? It sounds like a 50 Shades of Grey slashfic.
Apart from ncsoft using Rytlock as one of the charters (can they do that?) what does this have to with Guild Wars 2?
Actually, it might have a LOT to do with GW2.
As I pointed out in my earlier post, Rtylock has been very prominent in the HoT story, including getting a massive power upgrade. Now look at MxM and ask yourself “Did he get the upgrade because they’re using him in the MOBA, or are they using him in the MOBA because he stands out as a GW2 icon?”
When you’ve pondered that for a bit, here’s the next thing to wonder about: With GW2 being one of their big games at the moment, will NCSoft really settle for only one character from here going into their new game? No, of course not. They’re going to be looking at who else they can bring over. Whoever they pick will likely receive a boost of in-game importance. It makes both games basically advertise for each other, so it’s only natural.
Now, they might bring over someone like Scarlet Briar, who’s already dead, but even that doesn’t keep them from pushing her back into center stage in GW2 for a bit. So, yes, this new game may very well have an impact on GW2. It might be minor, or it could redirect or even change the upcoming plots.

I can’t see this game seriously competing with Dota2/LoL/HotS.
I can’t see this game seriously competing with Dota2/LoL/HotS.
I’d agree if it was trying to do just that, but it also seems to be competing with all the Diablo style games. Getting both in one game may make it popular.
And…. I just had a thought. What if they link the games directly? Say, some items you find in MxM carry over in some small way to GW2, or vice-versa? It’s not unreasonable to wonder if they’re going to do that.
delicate, brick-like subtlety.
Just what this tired, money-driven, DLC-obsessed, macro-transaction-fleecing “AAA” industry needs… Yet another “Me too!” MOBA.
