GW2 is Alt-unfriendly now.
All current players should have a lot of lv 20 scrolls in the bank, making any new alt toon easy to level. You’d be at skill slot 7 as soon as you have access to a bank.
That is is quite an assumption…
Each birthday gift has one of these in it. If you had just 1 character from the start of GW2, that means you’ll have two level 20 scrolls already. If you have alts as storage from the beginning, these alts will have the birthday gifts as well.
Now if you keep deleting characters, you’ll never get birthday gifts. So it’s better to just buy character slots, than to delete any toon.
Wife just did it, it was her favorite part of the game is basically ruined for her. Every update lately has been filled with equal parts disappointment to the good portions added to the game and frankly I’m tired of logging into a frustrating experience. I think I’ll take a break until they either add some meaningful new…NEW content or fire those who keep messing up the core game.

My problem is that I have my US account that is stacked high with L20 scrolls, and my EU account that started in March.
I have 3 unused slots on EU and they shall remain so.
to be quite honest… they’re just making us “SWING A SWORD… OVER AND OVER AGAIN… HEY I SWUNG IT AGAIN… OH AND AGAIN!” <remember something like this?
Yes… the Guild Wars manifesto trailer said something like this. and according to Guild Wars 2 developers they said “This is not something we want to do… we want to make the world living and make everything unique”
Instead they are going against what they said in their very own manifesto and doing the complete opposite. I would like Guild Wars 2 patchbringers to realize what they are doing to their manifesto promise
I personally don’t like the level lock on the skill bar. The story on the other hand i’m fine with… although they could lower the personal story to level 5.

Is there anything from the Manifesto they HAVEN’T backpedalled on?

good point…
By level 6 I was pulling what little is left of my hair out.
Hadda delete to maintain sanity.
And TBH, I was trying to like it.

manifesto was recorded on opposite day.
Sorry to get your hopes up.
You call crippling the early game abilities and putting them behind a level requirement a reward? Are you kidding me? Did you not learn from your China release!? How is locking story until your 10 levels up a reward? Or locking trading post until level 8 a reward? You crippled your early game experience… great job!
Playing a toon under level 10 was interesting. I walked away with the distinct impression that veteran players will have a harder time coming to terms with what has been taken away than new players will have learning the ropes.
My toon was level 8 before the patch. Coming back I missed the note that I would not have my F2 pet skill available nor would I have half my downed skills available to me. On the one hand it irritated me because my playstyle had been disrupted. On the other, I adjusted my playstyle (though I still hate it).
I’m not convinced that ANet is accomplishing what they stated they wished to accomplish but I will never see the game the way a new player will because I will always know how it was vs how it is now.
OTR
Yeah, except for colored pins and the finisher preview, this patch is such a step backward. 2/10 what where they thinking….
Yeah, new players from yesterday must be a little confused to have all their stuff reset. LOL, welcome to Tyria.
Why am I guessing we will be seeing a free trial soon …
RIP City of Heroes
It’s interesting, that they say it is a result of their China experience, while at the same time we hear voices from over there that it’s something that wasn’t liked at all.
Personally, i don’t know if it’s good for new players or not. Maybe it even is – i’m not going to argue hard about it. I do know, however, that it was a terrible change for those that want to level alts. They should have really made most of those unlocks account-wide. As it is, there’s no point now for me to buy additional slots – i know i wouldn’t be using them unless the whole system gets changed.
Remember, remember, 15th of November

Even underwater skills are locked behind levels.
It’s kind of funny how they didn’t mention this in their blog post about the feature pack. They knew the backlash would be great, as we’re seeing now. Whether or not, it was the same port from china, they should’ve at least mentioned it.
Going through the kittenified newbie zones will be a chore now.
Run around and spam F. Fascinating.
Apparently that’s all new players can handle >.>
This is what I question. What age/skill have they made these changes for? It looks like they have dumbed things down so much and made it idiot friendly. Is that who they are trying to attract, brainless morons?

Sure because 10 levels is the game. Most games have tutorials. The quote you’re quoting is actually a quote about grinding levels to get to the fun stuff.
Can you still go to PvP at level 2 if you want? Yes. Can you still level in EotM? Yes.
It’s not like you can’t go there. That’s what Colin was talking about.
I wish people would stop taking quotes out of context. It doesn’t help their arguments.

And I don’t appreciate ANet employees masquerading as simple players considering you’ve done nothing but try and damage control all morning. Put your red tag on already.

That would explain the infraction’s and bans I’ve gotten I guess. Maybe not.
Anet wouldn’t likely touch me with a ten foot poll. In case you haven’t noticed, I’m not universally loved here.
And what I said remains true, even though your response is completely off topic.
This guy loves it

Yes, i have tried it, and the speed still doesn’t change the fact that you are locked out of skills. Engineers will still have to wait for unlocking their kits at lvl 13, and professions that use sigils.
Hmmmm, I must test the new leveling, because they way people are making it seem, the average player will hit 15 in 2 days (1-10 on Day 1 in 2hrs play time, and 10-15 on Day 2 in 2hrs play time). That’s….not very long at all….
I mean…4 hours play time….how will people cope with that….
Most of these threads seem very knee-jerk. But, will test later and see for myself.
It’s a medical condition, they say its terminal….
They made it a lot more like the Chinese version I’ve noticed.

Working as planned.
