Hi there friends. So we all kinda like this game right? Cool me too. I thought of something today that I think needs a spot light. I was watching the most recent episode of the Co-optional Podcast on Youtube and they addressed Guild Wars 2. This rarely happens on their show. Mixed things were said.

Jessie Cox said he had played the new expansion and said positive things however, nothing was or has ever been said on the show on any of the recent news. This got me thinking… Sadly I don’t think the general gaming public has any idea of how much this game has changed since launch. They played the GW2 of 2012. So many of the game systems have changed and same with the story progression! So much has happened and no one knows it!

Next Mr Totalbiscuit gave his two cents. He said that yes the game was good but he and Jessie both didn’t have the time to play. He said he didn’t try the pvp and that it is just the same as other mmos. They were (rarely) mislead. They said that It is always the guy that grinds for a long time for the best gear in order to be the best player. Of course we all know this not to be true.

In light of the expansion coming, I wish this game much success. I hope our player base multiplies! This game has really grown into it’s own over these last few years. So what do you guys think? Do we the players and or Anet need to address these issues in a clear and well lit manner in order for this expansion to grab some people that are on the fence or maybe left and are now coming back to the game?

This is true of almost every MMO. though. Most MMOs improve as time goes on. And most people don’t give MMOs a second chance, once they’ve written it off. There are exceptions though.

Games like Warhammer became much better, but never caught back up after an abyssmal launch. Same with AoC. Wildstar is probably much better today than it was at launch but who would know that?

This is pretty much normal for a 3 year old MMO. So if the word is going to get out, we’re the ones that will have to get it out.

Interesting point Vayne. I didn’t really consider the other big mmos of recent years. In fact… I never gave them a chance because I thought the combat was too different from GW2.

Yeah I don’t like most MMO combat. I find it too slow. I hate standing in place and casting which in most MMOs is what you have to do with most of your skills. Not all however.

The thing is, the combination of stuff in Guild Wars 2 isn’t found all together in any other MMO. For example, I really like the story in TSW, but I don’t like the combat. I really like the combat in Tera, but I don’t like the story or the style. I really like the story in ESO, but I don’t like the static quests.

Most MMOs allow you to kill steal or node steal, which I can’t stand. I don’t like the holy trinity. I don’t like games that center on dungeons and raids, where you have to do them to get the best gear. I don’t like games that focus on open world PvP.

This game has most of the stuff I want from an MMO. There are still some omissions, but this game has most of what I’m looking for.

The thing is, journalists publish articles to get exposure. Their job is to get people into their various publications. So even if they were to publish an article on GW 2, who is going to read it? Well, I will. But most people who’ve already made up their minds won’t.

At this point in a product’s life, it’s up to fans of the game to share their enthusiasm to keep the game growing. The expansion will bring some people onboard, but for a lot of people, since they don’t have an interest in this game for whatever reason, they’re not going to stop and read articles about it.
